“If you were to ask me the relevance of NATO today in the world, I would tell you straight that it is an instrument of cordiality which should not be existing in this day and age. It is an organization which is actually threatening the stability of the world because it’s a military formation,” Zolani Mkiva, manager of the Mkiva Foundation, delegate to the South African National Council of Provinces tells Sputnik

💬“NATO is not there to defend humanity….You know, this thing of maintaining structures like those, they lead to these depopulation programs which are also regressive and destructive. Instead of people thinking positively on how to help humanity, they are thinking on how to liquidate humanity, which is bloody racist in its approach, which is imperial, which is inhuman, which is dehumanizing, and it needs to be condemned with the strongest terms possible.”

🚨A 4-year-old girl was killed after she ran into the street and was hit by a car, according to authorities in Texas. Police in San Antonio said officers were called to a scene in the city's South Side on Friday around 6:15 p.m. EDT.

The driver told police she didn't see the child because a white truck was parked in front of a house, obstructing her view. When the driver passed the truck, the girl ran into the road from the home's driveway and was hit by the car.

The driver, who had not been identified, stopped and remained at the scene.
The child was rushed to a hospital, where she died.

▪️A Connecticut police officer who was wounded in an apparent ambush that killed two of his fellow officers fired the shot that killed the attacker, police said.

In a Facebook post-Saturday, police in Bristol said Officer Alec Iurato was hit by gunfire and returned fire on Wednesday, killing Nicholas Brutcher. The state medical examiner's office said Brutcher, 35, died from a gunshot wound to the neck with spinal cord injuries.

Sgt. Dustin Demonte and Officer Alex Hamzy were gunned down outside a home where they had responded to a 911 call about possible domestic violence that authorities said appeared to be a deliberate act to lure police there. The Bristol Police Department said a fundraiser had been organized to support the DeMonte and Hamzy families. As of Saturday afternoon, nearly $36,000 was raised.

🧸 🇬🇧 More than 1,000 Paddington bears and other teddies left in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II in London and Windsor will be donated to a children’s charity, Buckingham Palace said Saturday.

Mourners left thousands of tributes, including flowers and teddy bears, outside Buckingham Palace and in royal parks in London and outside Windsor Castle in an outpouring of grief after the U.K.’s longest-reigning monarch died on Sept. 8 at age 96.

The queen became linked to Paddington bear, another British national treasure, after the two appeared together in a short comedy video during Platinum Jubilee celebrations earlier this year to mark the monarch’s 70 years on the throne.

🇭🇹The U.S. and Canada sent armored vehicles and other supplies to Haiti on Saturday to help police fight a powerful gang amid a pending request from the Haitian government for the immediate deployment of foreign troops.

A spokesman for the U.S. military’s Southern Command said he could not provide further details on the supplies sent. However, he added that it was a joint operation involving the U.S. Air Force and Royal Canadian Air Force.

“This equipment will assist (Haiti’s National Police) in their fight against criminal actors who are fomenting violence and disrupting the flow of critically-needed humanitarian assistance, hindering efforts to halt the spread of cholera,” the State Department said.

🇬🇧 Rebellious Tory MPs are plotting how to oust UK Prime Minister Liz Truss and replace her with Ben Wallace as part of a “rescue mission for the Conservative party,” the Sunday Mirror reported.

With the ruling party facing disastrous polls in the wake of Truss’s fiscal plans that led her to fire her finance minister, Kwasi Kwarteng, and reverse major parts of her tax-cutting Growth Plan, the Secretary of State for Defence is regarded by the alleged plotters as the best option.

Reinstating Rishi Sunak as Chancellor is also viewed by the Tory rebels as a way to “calm the bond markets and strengthen the pound.”
