"Parents are fed up — and in Dearborn they aren't allowing this nonsense to go on any longer," said Republican gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon. "Schools need to stop teaching radical sex and gender theories behind parents' backs and instead get back to the basics of teaching reading, writing and math."

The previous meeting on the same topic descended into chaos and was cut short by the school board. Police had to disperse the crowd, according to reports.

☢️🇺🇸 Highly radioactive waste has been found in an elementary school in St. Louis, Missouri.

A recent report by the Boston Chemical Data Corp confirmed fears about previously reported contamination. It includes samples taken from the school’s library, kitchen, classrooms, fields, and playgrounds.

According to the Boston Chemical Data Corp’s report, the levels of the radioactive isotope lead-210, polonium, radium, and other toxins were “far in excess.”

The school sits in the Coldwater Creek flood plain, which was contaminated by nuclear waste from weapons production during World War II. The waste was dumped at sites near St. Louis Lambert International Airport, next to the creek, which flows into the Missouri River.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced after several US airport websites were hit by coordinated denial-of-service attacks earlier this week that it plans to issue new cybersecurity requirements for some key aviation systems.

In a notice, last month to airports, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that as a condition for attaining airport terminal grants, they must prove their efforts "to consider and address physical and cyber security risks relevant to the transportation mode and type and scale of the project."

"Modern airplanes are equipped with networks and systems that share data with the pilots, passengers, maintenance crews, other aircraft, and air-traffic controllers, and if not properly protected, could be at risk of a variety of potential cyberattacks," the GAO noted.

🦠The World Health Organization and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control have announced that amidst rising cases across the region, Europe could likely experience another wave of COVID-19 infections.

In a joint statement, Hans Kluge, WHO Europe director, and Andrea Ammon, ECDC director, said, "Although we are not where we were one year ago, it is clear that the COVID-19 pandemic is still not over. We are unfortunately seeing indicators rising again in Europe, suggesting that another wave of infections has begun."

Regional data from the WHO showed that Europe was the only region to record a rise in COVID-19 cases in the week ending 2nd October, an increase of 8 percent from the previous week. "There is no time to lose," the WHO and ECDC stressed, adding that vulnerable groups, including those over the age of 60, pregnant women, and people with co-morbidities, should get vaccinated against both influenza and COVID-19.

Hurricane Ian had devastating impacts on the fishing industry, including damaged boat facilities, cancelation of charter fishing trips, lack of bait and loss of product due to power outages, and lack of navigable waterways and roadways, among many other roadblocks. The financial assistance from this disaster declaration would replace fishers' lost income and rebuild their businesses and infrastructure.

🚨Two people were shot and killed after an altercation outside of a food truck in Alabama on Sunday, police said. The Birmingham Police Department has started a double homicide investigation after the incident early Sunday morning in Birmingham.

According to officials, the altercation happened outside a food truck restaurant around 2 a.m., which turned physical and led to gunfire. The truck was across the street from the Empire Night Club.

Birmingham police and fire responded to a call of a person shot outside the food truck. That person was pronounced dead at the scene. As officers continued investigating, another victim was found dead inside a van. It is still unknown whether the second person was part of the altercation or hit by stray gunfire. Currently, there is no one in custody.
