💬 The billionaire said that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's partners had already met with the Taliban in Qatar and added he was pleased that the movement did not sack the previous health minister, who he said was "quite capable."

Gates said that world leaders are not taking the threat of poliomyelitis seriously.

"The world is quite distracted, and there isn't as much energy going into pandemic preparedness as I would expect," he said.

🇪🇺 The European Union's foreign ministers are expected to give the green light to a joint mission to train Ukrainian troops at their meeting in Luxembourg on Monday

It's been suggested that the training will start in mid-November and take place on EU territory. Poland is likely to host the main hub of the mission, with Germany also a key staging post for the effort. Similar programs which are already being run by individual European states will continue under their own steam until they are incorporated into the EU mission.

The ministers are also expected to earmark an extra slice of funds to reimburse EU member states for arms delivered to Ukraine.

❗️Russia’s MoD briefing on the progress of the special military operation in Ukraine:

▪️Russian forces carried out artillery strikes on Ukraine’s 14th and 92nd Mechanized Brigades, eliminating up to 160 soldiers, four armored combat vehicles, two artillery pieces, a pickup truck, and two cars in the Kharkov region.

▪️Russian troops repelled an unsuccessful attack by Ukrainian forces attack in the direction of Stryapovka in the DPR, eliminating more than 50 soldiers and six tanks.

▪️Russian forces thwarted an attempt to break through defenses near Bruskinskoe in the Kherson region by Ukrainian forces, eliminating over 100 soldiers.

▪️The Russian Army in one day eliminated two command posts, 39 artillery units, military personnel and equipment in 127 districts, and destroyed six ammunition depots. A fuel storage for military purposes and a repair base for weapons and vehicles were also destroyed.

▪️Russia forces destroyed a Ukrainian Smerch rocket system and a battery of US-made M777 howitzers in the Kharkov region.

▪️Russian troops eliminated nine UAVs, as well as 21 HIMARS and Olkha missiles. Two American HARM anti-radar missiles were intercepted.
