▪️ Despite not yet declaring whether he wants his old job back, the former leader who stood down just six weeks ago had reportedly won the backing of 52 fellow Tory MPs by early on Friday morning.

▪️ Former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak is seen as another likely candidate after he came second to Liz Truss in this summer's leadership contest.

▪️ Penny Mordaunt, who placed third in the leadership contest, is another likely favorite.

▪️ Suella Braverman, the former Interior Minister who lasted a day less in office than Liz Truss did, is another probable contender for the top job.

The next UK’s PM will be announced by Oct. 28.

🇫🇷French President Emmanuel Macron has criticized the US for double standards over gas prices. Gas is sold three to four times more expensive to Europeans than on the domestic US market.

💬“The North American economy is making choices for the sake of attractiveness, which I respect, but they create a double standard” with lower energy prices domestically while selling natural gas to Europe at record prices, the French President said at a news conference in Brussels following a meeting of European Union leaders.

In addition, he commented that, "It is about sincerity in transatlantic trade," and announced his intention “to raise this issue” during his visit to the US in December.
