🇺🇸 Five people have been stuck some 60 meters underground for more than a day at Grand Canyon Caverns after the attraction’s elevator malfunctioned, local authorities said on Monday.

The visitors of the attraction are not confined inside the elevator and are free to use the underground caves and adjacent hotel while they wait for help to arrive. The suite is listed as $1,000 per night for two.

The malfunction was discovered on Sunday, and the group was unable to use the stairway system. Attempts to fix the elevator have been unsuccessful, and authorities are considering using a harness to pull the tourists through the elevator shaft.

👟 Adidas has terminated its partnership with Kanye West following a series of "anti-Semitic" and "offensive remarks."

The sportswear giant conceded that the decision would have a "short-term negative impact of up to €250 million on the company’s net income in 2022 given the high seasonality of the fourth quarter."

The German brand's move comes after weeks of deliberations and pressure from celebrities and social media users to drop the rapper following his remarks, which were deemed "anti-Semitic" and "hateful."

Just a little over a week ago, Kanye West was on a hip-hop community podcast, where he bragged about being able to say "anti-Semitic things" and still have Adidas' support.

❗️Ash Carter, ex-Pentagon chief under the Obama administration, has died at the age of 68. During his tenure, Carter pushed for extending the US’ illegal military presence in Syria and boosting aid to Ukraine.

🐧 The US has designated the emperor penguin as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act, federal officials announced.

With Antarctic sea ice slowly disappearing and breaking apart, emperor penguins are gradually losing the ground which is necessary for breeding, raising chicks, and escaping predators. Some experts even claim that 9% of the world’s emperor penguin population will disappear by 2100.

◾️The Republican National Committee has filed a lawsuit against Google, alleging the tech giant is purposely diverting its emails to users' spam folders.

"Google has relegated millions of RNC emails en masse to potential donors' and supporters' spam folders during pivotal points in election fundraising and community building," the RNC said in the lawsuit.

Google rejects the claims, and its spokesperson, Jose Castaneda, said, "As we have repeatedly said, we simply don't filter emails based on political affiliation. Gmail's spam filters reflect users' actions." The RNC has claimed that for most of the month, almost all of its emails were sent to users' inboxes, adding that at the end of the month's important fundraising period, nearly all of their emails were forwarded to spam folders.
