Turkish Defense Minister Says Sweden, Finland Not Meeting Requirements to Join NATO
Turkey has been observing that Sweden and Finland did not meet the requirements to gain NATO membership by leaving export restrictions in effect and supporting the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), labeled as a terrorist organization by Ankara, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Tuesday.
"We observe that Sweden and Finland do not fulfill the obligations under the [security] memorandum. We expect concrete measures of ceasing support for terrorist organizations and lifting export restrictions," the minister was quoted as saying by a Turkish newspaper.

▪️ A Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group has been eliminated in Kharkov region. The Ukrainians have lost over 50 personnel, 1 tank, 2 infantry fighting vehicles, and 2 pickup trucks.
▪️ Russia’s units, supported by units of Airborne Troops, continued their offensive operations in the DPR.
▪️ Russia’s artillery units and the Pacific Fleet's marines have neutralized the concentrations of manpower and hardware of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the DPR.
▪️ Operational-Tactical Aviation, Missile Troops and the Artillery of the Armed Forces of Russia have neutralized an artillery ordnance depot in the Kharkov region, as well as 82 artillery units at their firing positions, manpower and hardware in 98 areas.

Russian special presidential envoy and Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Second Asian Department, Zamir Kabulov, discussed the creation of favorable conditions for Afghan exports to Russia and an increase in imports from Russia with representatives of the Taliban* government, the Russian embassy told Sputnik.
The discussions took place during Kabulov's visit to Afghanistan, which took place on January 11-13.
"During the visit, the development of trade and economic ties was discussed with our Afghan partners, including an increase in imports from Russia and the creation of favorable conditions for Afghan exports to the Russian Federation," a spokesperson for the embassy said.

In response to the unfriendly actions of the European Union, Moscow has expanded the stop list of representatives of European institutions and EU member states who are banned from entering Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The European Union continues its attempts to put pressure on Russia through unilateral restrictive measures. On December 16, 2022, the EU countries adopted the ninth sanctions package. We consider such EU actions illegitimate, undermining the international legal prerogatives of the UN Security Council," the ministry said.
