🇦🇫 US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has apparently agreed with the "reality" that the US has to negotiate the evacuation of American citizens with the Taliban.
A total of at least 22 people were killed and 50 others remained missing after the flash floods swept through Tennessee, the New York Times reported on Sunday.

Twin toddlers are among the 21 people dead, NBC reported.

🇦🇫 An "oh sh**" moment: US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that nobody expected the Afghan government would fall in only 11 days

🗣 "It was a very rapid, fast-moving, fast-paced evolution," he said during an interview with ABC's "This Week."

According to the chief, early US intelligence projections on how long the Afghan government could hold off the Taliban after the US troop withdrawal were very different, ranging "from one to two years to several months"

But he still believes the planning of withdrawal was "acceptable and appropriate," giving the excuse that there were "no good options."

❗️🇺🇸The first COVID-19 related death in the United States may have occurred as early as in January 2020, several weeks before the country started logging virus-related fatalities in the original record, Mercury News reports.

Officially, the death of Patricia Dowd on February 6, 2020 in California's San Jose is considered the first COVID-19 related death in the US.

However, six death certificates from January 2020 recently discovered in six different states showed that the virus may have been circulating beyond the country's coastal states that were considered the earliest hotspots for COVID-19.

🇦🇫 "No Americans are stranded"?

White House Spokesperson Jen Psaki clashed with Fox News reporter Peter Doocy over the latter’s question of whether Joe Biden was aware that most of the criticism against the US withdrawal from Afghanistan was about Americans "stranded" in Kabul.

🗣 "I think it's irresponsible to say Americans are stranded. They are not. We are committed to bringing Americans who want to come home, home," the White House press secretary observed.

🧐 Sounds like the Biden administration is again ignoring reality, similar to the border crisis.
🇦🇫 US Rep. Liz Cheney accused the Biden White House of lying about the brutal circumstances facing many Americans trying to leave Afghanistan, saying that some have been “beaten” by members of the Taliban.

🗣 “The fact that we're now somehow relying on the Taliban to protect Americans, and the White House is denying what we know is happening on the ground - which is that Americans are being beaten, they're being prevented from getting to the gates of the airport, and they are probably being held hostage,” Cheney said during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press”.
