NATO Game? US May Directly Meddle in Ukrainian Conflict, Seymour Hersh Warns

The US may directly meddle in the Ukrainian conflict in case of visible signs of Kiev’s defeat amid the Russian military operation, American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has argued.

Speaking at a US NGO event, the Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter quoted unnamed sources as saying that there will be a NATO “game” against Russia that the US may support.

What Was US Doing Flying a Combat Drone Off Russia's Coast?

A statement from the US European Command late on Tuesday said two Russian Su-27 jet fighters had intercepted a US Air Force MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Black Sea.

The statement claimed the drone, of the same model used in armed attacks on civilians in Afghanistan and Pakistan, was on an "intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance" mission over "international waters."

Apart from surveillance missions, US drones are currently involved in implementing other tasks, including the destruction of enemy air defenses, as well as combat search and rescue.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the MQ-9 drone fell in the Black Sea as a result of engaging in sharp maneuvering and the Russian fighter jets sent to intercept the US unmanned aerial vehicle did not come into contact with it, nor did they used weapons against the drone. Now the question arises what the US drone did in the Black Sea and more generally, why are the UAVs being used by the US army?
