🗣President Biden’s top scientific adviser, Eric Lander, has claimed that the ongoing coronavirus health crisis has laid bare “fundamental issues” with US public health system that “go far beyond pandemic preparedness".

“The issues include the need to increase overall public health funding, strengthen the public health workforce, eliminate barriers to access, improve data systems, address disparities, improve communications, and improve coordination across federal, state, local, and Tribal authorities,” Dr Lander said, adding that the US government should start preparing as any future pandemic will likely be worse than COVID-19.

🤨Some Artificial Intelligence software has landed Facebook in trouble after it generated “keep seeing” prompts for videos in which black men had been filmed and were identified as "primates".

The issue came to light when some users were watching the video from a British tabloid the Daily Mail featuring black men. The users soon received an automated prompt from Facebook asking if they would like to "keep seeing videos about Primates".

The video dated 27 June 2020, contained clips of two separate incidents, which appear to take place in the US. One shows a group of black men arguing with a white individual on a road in Connecticut, and the other shows several black men arguing with white police officers in Indiana before being detained.

"We apologise to anyone who may have seen these offensive recommendations," Facebook said adding that the tool is disabled now.
