🕵️♀️ A former FBI agent claims that the United States helped Israel in preventing a major Al-Qaeda attack.
The information about the plot was obtained by operatives during interrogations of a Palestinian man apprehended in Afghanistan, an ex-FBI agent, Ali Soufan, who with other agents had followed al-Qaeda for the FBI both before and after the 9/11 attacks in September 2001.
Al-Qaeda reportedly expected that roughly 200 people would have been killed in the attacks, which were to take place at numerous clubs at the same time. ✈🔥

🗣President Biden’s top scientific adviser, Eric Lander, has claimed that the ongoing coronavirus health crisis has laid bare “fundamental issues” with US public health system that “go far beyond pandemic preparedness".
“The issues include the need to increase overall public health funding, strengthen the public health workforce, eliminate barriers to access, improve data systems, address disparities, improve communications, and improve coordination across federal, state, local, and Tribal authorities,” Dr Lander said, adding that the US government should start preparing as any future pandemic will likely be worse than COVID-19.

🚔An argument between a father and two homeless people on a beach in Malibu turned violent, ending with the father losing an eye.
Last Sunday the two homeless people confronted the man, accompanied with two other adults and two children, saying they were not allowed in the area. This provoked an argument. One of the suspects, later identified as Richard Franck, whipped out a machete and slashed the father several times.
The two suspects were arrested after briefly barricading themselves in a public lavatory near the parking lot. The injured man was reportedly taken to hospital in a stable condition.

🤨Some Artificial Intelligence software has landed Facebook in trouble after it generated “keep seeing” prompts for videos in which black men had been filmed and were identified as "primates".
The issue came to light when some users were watching the video from a British tabloid the Daily Mail featuring black men. The users soon received an automated prompt from Facebook asking if they would like to "keep seeing videos about Primates".
The video dated 27 June 2020, contained clips of two separate incidents, which appear to take place in the US. One shows a group of black men arguing with a white individual on a road in Connecticut, and the other shows several black men arguing with white police officers in Indiana before being detained.
"We apologise to anyone who may have seen these offensive recommendations," Facebook said adding that the tool is disabled now.

🥺A Pennsylvania boy is determined to save his lemonade stand earnings for a real-life fire truck for his community.
The Friendship Fire Company has been raising money for a new ladder truck since at least 18 June 2020, according to its GoFundMe page, as the truck is expected to cost $1.3 million. 8-year-old Andrew decided he wanted to help and raised $200 at his summer lemonade stand.
"I think it’s just a great way to teach kids about making a product, selling it, making money and then, well what do we do with this money? We could buy something with it, you know, to treat yourselves. But I just feel like my job as a mother, the biggest role is to help my kids have the biggest heart they can and to want to help and not always put themselves first," said Andrea Dembeck, the boy’s mother.

🍺🍺A US Open fan went viral on Friday night thanks to her crowd-pleasing talent for knocking back beer. During the tennis match between Roberto Bautista-Agut and Felix Auger-Aliassime, cameras on the court stopped at the blonde girl with a glass of beer in her hand which she immediately drank in one gulp.
But there was a sequel: later, the cameramen returned to the girl, who didn't have a beer. Nothing daunted, when she saw her face on the big screen, she grabbed a neighbour's beer and downed it in one, prompting a standing ovation from the stands.
