🤓 Republican US Senator @TedCruzTX has proposed his own solution to expired state and federal unemployment benefits, inviting people affected by it to simply find a job.
😏 At first glance, it is a fairly logical and simple solution, given that there are a huge number of low-paying vacancies on the labor market. However, we have yet to see the ramifications of the Democratic Pandora's Box, opened by the unemployment benefits

🦒 A woman at a Santa Monica beach casually walked a giraffe on a leash on 6 September.
A local beach club hired the giraffe, named Jax, to entertain people at a Labour Day party. Jax was later seen surrounded by children and guests.
The picture turned out to be controversial and divided Twitter: some excited users said the animal had made their day, while others stressed that it was heartless and distasteful to exploit Jax in hot weather.

🤔 Facebook has said it doesn't read WhatsApp messages. An investigation, however, has found this was a lie.
A new investigation, conducted by the non-profit organisation ProPublica, has revealed that WhatsApp employs more than 1,000 contract workers across the US who examine "millions of pieces of users' content" – and use Facebook software to do so.
This contradicts Mark Zuckerberg’s claims in 2019 that WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption had made it impossible even for the service itself to access users' messages, let alone Facebook.
Well, it turns out there is a way.

🛫❌ The US Department of State refused to approve private flights from Afghanistan that could evacuate a number of American citizens and Afghan refugees, Fox News reported, citing leaked emails.
The alleged documents were said to have been provided by a military lawyer and retired US Marine, Eric Montalvo, who carried out a number of evacuation flights from Afghanistan.
Officials reportedly told Montalvo that he was allowed to conduct flights and deliver asylum seekers to “another destination country”, but not to the US, which would only approve charters to other receiving countries.
Meanwhile, reports claimed that nearly 1,000 people are still waiting for evacuation flights.

🤔 Why do the Dems care about this law? Why are they so adamantly against it?
Here's the thing: The Dems assert that any law that hinders access to the ballot box for any eligible voter will potentially impinge on black and Hispanic voters more than white voters. A 2014 Government Accounting Office study suggested that voter ID laws might reduce voting as much as 2-3 percent.
Typically, turnout among minority voters, expressed as a percentage, is lower than that of middle-class white voters. Thus, any law that hinders access to the ballot could affect black and Hispanic voters more than white voters, according to the academic
