Needing US hires, Norway dubs lack of F-35 mechanics 'declaration of bankruptcy'
Norway's Air Force is facing a severe shortage of mechanics, worsened by the closure of the Bodo air base and the distribution of the F-35 fleet to other stations. The defense minister acknowledges the challenges in recruiting and retaining technical personnel, and temporary measures involve hiring from Lockheed Martin.
The government plans to allocate $5.6 million to secure technicians from aviation schools, but experts warn this won't solve the problem immediately, leaving Norway vulnerable and with too few employees per plane compared to other European countries.

Italy's national debt hits new record of $3.04 Trln in March
The previous record was set in February 2023, when Italy's sovereign debt first surpassed 2.78 trillion euros.
"It is a new historic record! This exponential growth raises concern and anxiety, given the increase of the interest rate due to a new restrictive monetary policy by the European Central Bank," Massimiliano Dona, the president of the Italian National Consumer Union, said, commenting on a new report by the Italian central bank.
COVID-19 restrictions led to an increase in Italy's state debt to over 155% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2020.

Moscow Metro is celebrating the 88th anniversary of its opening on May 15.
The Moscow Metro is one of the oldest and largest subway systems in the world, with its history dating almost a century.
It maintains the shortest interval between trains compared to other metro systems worldwide, with trains running every 90 seconds during peak hours.
In the 1930s, when the first metro was being built in the capital, metro builders faced difficult hydrogeological conditions. At the time, a system to prevent ground collapse and other typical tunnel dangerous was implemented, which is still considered one of the most well-designed and reliable systems.
The Moscow Metro is also underground museum - every station is a work of art.
