"Police are on scene of a shooting at Heritage High School," Newport Police Department said in a statement.

"Students are being evacuated and sent to the tennis courts. Parents can meet them there."

US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is heading to Texas on Monday to oversee the removal of mostly Haitian migrants from a sprawling makeshift camp they set up after wading across the Rio Grande from Mexico. According to a statement from his office, Mayorkas will meet with local officials and hold a news conference.
