Scott Ritter: Ukraine’s fate sealed long before failing counteroffensive
Recently the armed forces of Ukraine have come under criticism from their Western military partners for carrying out operations in support of the ongoing counteroffensive in a manner which deviates from the operational theory of combined arms warfare.
The tragic reality is that neither approach to warfare has enabled Ukraine to achieve the ambitious goals and objectives it has set out for itself when launching the counteroffensive, namely the breaching of the Russian defenses leading to the severing of the land bridge connecting Crimea to Russia.

🌪 Hurricane "Idalia" rages over Florida
"Idalia" is gradually weakening, but is still dangerous, primarily due to storm surge. The elements forced authorities to carry out mass evacuations, left 230,000 households and businesses without electricity, and led to flooding of the Gulf of Mexico coast. The strength of the hurricane now draws two points out of five, but reached three and even four previously.
The hurricane is moving to the northeast, towards the Atlantic Ocean: on its way are the states of Georgia and South Carolina.

#SputnikInfographic 📊 How Washington-Moscow hotline kept the world safe for 60 years
☎️ Exactly 60 years ago, the hotline established by the US and the USSR to mitigate nuclear risks and improve mutual communication, became operational.
"The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog’s back 1234567890."
This was the very first message sent from the US to the USSR on August 30, 1963, through the newly established "hotline" - a direct communications link between the two at-head governments for use in times of emergency. The mysterious message wasn't any sort of a cryptogram: it was a test text that contained all the Latin letters, an apostrophe and all the numbers.
