Alexander Dugin, one of the world’s most famous political philosophers, joins us in a new episode of our New Rules podcast
"My works are prohibited in the West. You can't buy them on Amazon. You can't buy them in the bookstores because I'm considered the most dangerous philosopher in the West. So I am totally canceled. I am totally destroyed, deconstructed in the West, and you can guess why,” Dugin says, commenting on the West’s cancel policy towards him

🌪 Hurricane "Idalia" rages over Florida
"Idalia" is gradually weakening, but is still dangerous, primarily due to storm surge. The elements forced authorities to carry out mass evacuations, left 230,000 households and businesses without electricity, and led to flooding of the Gulf of Mexico coast. The strength of the hurricane now draws two points out of five, but reached three and even four previously.
The hurricane is moving to the northeast, towards the Atlantic Ocean: on its way are the states of Georgia and South Carolina.

#SputnikInfographic 📊 How Washington-Moscow hotline kept the world safe for 60 years
☎️ Exactly 60 years ago, the hotline established by the US and the USSR to mitigate nuclear risks and improve mutual communication, became operational.
"The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog’s back 1234567890."
This was the very first message sent from the US to the USSR on August 30, 1963, through the newly established "hotline" - a direct communications link between the two at-head governments for use in times of emergency. The mysterious message wasn't any sort of a cryptogram: it was a test text that contained all the Latin letters, an apostrophe and all the numbers.
Sputnik has looked back on the history of the famous "red telephone."

EU ‘overplayed its hand’ in Ukraine’s support, an analyst says
''EU leaders need to bear in mind that they should be accountable to those who are electing them, not to Kiev, when it comes to the bloc’s budget'', Adriel Kasonta, foreign affairs analyst and former chairman of the International Affairs Committee at the Bow Group think tank, told Sputnik.
On Wednesday, the bloc’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced that EU countries will discuss the continuation of financial support for Ukraine at a meeting in Spain on the 30th and the 31st August.
The gathering convenes as EU members remain at odds over the bloc’s €86 billion ($93.2 billion) budget, which includes €20 billion ($21.6 billion) in military assistance for Kiev.
