Russian developers have created the Viarus simulator to train drone operators with the help of VR glasses

“Wearing the Viarus VR spectacles, a pilot steers the virtual drone in the same way as if he operates a real unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV),” Mikhail Sinakin, executive director of the Iksarus company, said in an interview with Sputnik.

The developers plan to create another drone control simulator to help pilots drill various scenarios for using UAVs in combat missions.

The Russian MoD’s latest statements on the Ukraine crisis:

▪️The Russian Armed Forces have successfully repelled four attacks by enemy assault groups in the DPR. The enemy losses were up to 225 Ukrainian soldiers killed and wounded, two armored fighting vehicles, nine motor vehicles, one US-manufactured M777 artillery system, and one Grad MLRS system.

▪️The Russian Armed Forces have repelled two Ukrainian attacks in the Zaporozhye region. The enemy losses were up to 170 Ukrainian troops, two tanks, three armored fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles, three US-manufactured M777 artillery systems, one M119 howitzer, one German-manufactured Panzerhaubitze-2000 self-propelled artillery system, one British-manufactured FH-70 gun, one D-20 and one D-30 howitzers.

▪️The enemy losses near Krasny Liman were over 70 soldiers, three armored fighting vehicles, one Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled artillery system, and one D-20 howitzer.

▪️The Russian Armed Forces have destroyed enemy manpower and hardware near Kupyansk. The enemy losses were up to 50 Ukrainian soldiers, two motor vehicles, and one D-30 howitzer.

▪️The enemy losses in the Kherson region were up to 40 Ukrainian troops, including two sabotage and reconnaissance groups, two motor vehicles, and two D-30 howitzers.

▪️Air defense facilities have intercepted 21 HIMARS and Uragan MLRS projectiles.

▪️Some 467 airplanes, 248 helicopters, 6,409 unmanned aerial vehicles, 435 air defense missile systems, 11,653 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,148 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 6,230 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,715 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.

🗣 "Russia will extend an additional voluntary reduction in oil supplies to world markets by 300,000 barrels per day until the end of December 2023," Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said, adding that the reduction is aimed at "strengthening the precautionary measures taken by the OPEC+ countries in order to maintain stability and balance in the oil markets."

🛢 The volume of voluntary reduction in Russia’s oil production will be reviewed monthly depending on the situation on the global oil market, Alexander Novak said on Tuesday.

In March, Russia announced that it will voluntarily cut its oil production by 500,000 barrels per day from the February level of 9.95 million barrels per day. In April, Russia said that it will extend its voluntarily reduction until year-end.

As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nationwide COVID hospitalizations in the most recent week increased by 18.8% while SARS-CoV-2-related deaths surged by more than 21%.

As of yet, the CDC has not made a broad recommendation for everyone to wear masks. However, as per the US press, that could happen if hospitalizations reach "critical levels." Thus the agency recommends "universal masking" in jurisdictions with 20 or more people with COVID per 100,000 in local hospitals; whereas masking for high-risk individuals could be implemented when 10 to 19.9 people per 100,000 are hospitalized with COVID.

🇫🇮 Finnish armored vehicle manufacturer Patria Group is considering accepting proposals to set up part of its production in Ukraine, a global defense news outlet has reported.

Finland has already sent military assistance to Ukraine worth almost $1.4 billion since the start of the Russian special operation. Moscow has repeatedly warned that such assistance will add to prolonging the Ukraine conflict.

🗣"In general, we know Ukraine to be interested in Finnish defense industry products and that discussions to promote bilateral materiel cooperation have taken place between administrations and companies. Commercial export licenses have been applied for, and the defense administration has accelerated the procedure to deal with them," an unnamed Finnish Defense Ministry official said.
