Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has warned that if Iran were to acquire a nuclear weapon, his kingdom would seek to do the same, prompting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to point out that Tehran has repeatedly said it does not have such plans. Lavrov added that, "No one wants more nuclear countries to emerge in the world.”

🇨🇦🇷🇺 The University of Alberta has announced about the closure of the research endowment fund bearing the name of Ukrainian Nazi veteran Yaroslav Hunka soon after the public address by the Russian Embassy in Canada, Russian Ambassador to Ottawa Oleg Stepanov told Sputnik.

The Russian Embassy in Canada will send a note to the country's Foreign Ministry on legal steps regarding SS veteran Hunka and is awaiting Ottawa's reaction, said Stepanov, adding that Russia has no illusions about the prospects for the extradition of Hunka, as Canada will certainly drag out the process until his death.

🇺🇸 The US military will continue to serve without pay in the event of a shutdown, while most civilian employees will go on unpaid leave, Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said.

Singh explained that the vast majority of Pentagon civilian employees will stop working.

The shutdown, which is the suspension of the federal government, could come as of Oct. 1 if Congress does not agree on a new budget before midnight on Saturday.
