🇫🇷🪲 The French health minister assured the nation that there was no need to panic about bedbug infestation, after commuters complained that public transport in Paris was crawling with the bloodsucking insects.

💬"There is no reason for general panic. We are not being invaded by bedbugs. And it is not related to migration, if this needs to be said… It is related to mobility: when you return from abroad, you may bring them on yourself," Aurelien Rousseau told a French radio broadcaster.

Bedbug infestation is giving headaches to the French sanitary watchdog Anses in the run-up to the 2024 summer Olympics. Anses estimates that the insects have invaded one in 10 households across France in the past several years. In recent months, they have been popping up in hotels, cinemas, on trains, and even on ferries.

When this story went to press late on Tuesday morning, the Dow Jones was down by 367 points, a 1.1% drop, and the Nasdaq and S&P 500 had suffered even worse losses.

The initiating factor in the mass selloffs was the 10-year and 30-year Treasury bonds hitting their highest levels since August 2007, continuing a trend that began on Monday of rapidly increasing yields. Late on Tuesday morning, it was at 4.77% - even higher than at the opening bell.

💬 "The Arctic Sea has been opening up and it is only natural for the maritime traffic to increase. I see the development of the Northern Sea Routeand the Chennai-Vladivostok corridor as a very positive step in that sense.

There is also growing demand for Russian commodities in the Indian market and Indian finished products could find a seamless transit to the Russia markets and beyond," stated Vasan, an Indian Navy veteran.

🇷🇺 🇮🇳 Vasan, a former Indian Navy officer, asserts that prioritizing the Northern Sea Route as a feasible mode of connectivity between Asia and Europe carries noteworthy geopolitical benefits.

The development of these alternative routes would provide more efficient and reliable trade and transportation options, diminishing reliance on the problematic Suez Canal.

Will India stop buying Russian oil? Unlikely!

🇷🇺🇮🇳 State-owned refiners in India witnessed a 25% surge in imports of Russian oil in September compared with the previous month, according to energy cargo tracker Vortexa.

📈 This rise has contributed to a almost 10% overall rise in India's imports from Russia.

🌐 These findings add further evidence to suggest that the G7 price cap has not posed a substantial hindrance to India's oil imports.
