🚀 Sputnik's 66th anniversary: October 4, 1957 marks the beginning of the space race, when Earth's first artificial satellite was launched into orbit by the Soviet Union.
The orbit was designed so that the Sputnik-1 would fly over Moscow and Washington, covering this distance in about 15 minutes. Long before Chinese balloons made it mainstream, the Sputnik satellite flying over the US literally shocked the country. The New York Times immediately called the launch "one of the world's greatest propaganda and scientific feats."
Sputnik-1's flight was seen all around the world, and the signal sent by it could be heard by any radio amateur anywhere on Earth. The results of the flight gave great impetus to the development of technology, including the Internet.

“I do not have firm information about how the Russian president and Russian military command will act, but I am sure that if the strikes of Taurus of ATACMS are very harmful for Russia, then I presume we will at least strike the logistical hub in the territory of Poland in Rzeszów. In this case, it will be up to the United States to decide what to do. Either to go to the Third World War with mutual destruction or leave the Poles to fight Russia alone,” retired Russian Lieutenant General Evgeny Buzhinsky, told the New Rules podcast.

🗣️ On widening cracks in support for Ukraine among NATO countries:
“People are increasingly uncomfortable with the amounts of money being sent to what it looks like an unwinnable war from the Ukrainian perspective that this counteroffensive… has resulted in the loss of thousands and thousands of Ukrainian lives. So therefore, there's an opportunity for anyone to make big political gains… who comes out with a bit of reality and says that ‘We've got bigger issues, we don't have the money, we're going to look after the interests of our own citizens and stop throwing it into the most corrupt black hole of this proxy war,’” Phil Kelly, Belfast-based political commentator and socialist activist, told Sputnik.

#SputnikInfographic📊 History of US Government shutdowns
A shutdown occurs in the United States when members of the US Congress, and perhaps even the US president himself fail to come to an agreement on budget allocations for the new fiscal year.
If the so-called appropriation bill, which regulates these matters, is not passed before the fiscal year begins on October 1 – either due to members of the House of Representatives or the Senate failing to agree on the bill’s provisions or the POTUS vetoing the bill that already passed Congress – then it is government shutdown time.
🖼 This infographic by Sputnik shows how many government shutdowns have taken place in the US since the 1980s and how long they lasted

🗣️ On the Biden administration’s desire to impose their hegemony on the world:
“The US is trying to impose diktat on the world, but it doesn't have the power to do so. And large portions of the world realize this full well. So therefore, you know, the BRICS countries are casting this whole effort off, but NATO is still going along with it. And it's crazy... Biden now recognizes that international law is not going its way. So therefore, he is casting it off and he is essentially now trying to rule by diktat, but it's just not going to work,” Dan Lazare, investigative journalist and author of America's Undeclared War, told Sputnik.

🇷🇺⚔️ The Russian military regularly fires special leaflets over Ukrainian troops' positions; these small papers serve as a "pass" for servicemen who want to lay down their arms.
Let's dig a bit deeper: why do the leaflets sometimes look like banknotes (hryvnias, dollars, euros)? How well does this method actually work in getting the enemy to surrender?
