🗣️ On widening cracks in support for Ukraine among NATO countries:
“People are increasingly uncomfortable with the amounts of money being sent to what it looks like an unwinnable war from the Ukrainian perspective that this counteroffensive… has resulted in the loss of thousands and thousands of Ukrainian lives. So therefore, there's an opportunity for anyone to make big political gains… who comes out with a bit of reality and says that ‘We've got bigger issues, we don't have the money, we're going to look after the interests of our own citizens and stop throwing it into the most corrupt black hole of this proxy war,’” Phil Kelly, Belfast-based political commentator and socialist activist, told Sputnik.

#SputnikInfographic📊 History of US Government shutdowns
A shutdown occurs in the United States when members of the US Congress, and perhaps even the US president himself fail to come to an agreement on budget allocations for the new fiscal year.
If the so-called appropriation bill, which regulates these matters, is not passed before the fiscal year begins on October 1 – either due to members of the House of Representatives or the Senate failing to agree on the bill’s provisions or the POTUS vetoing the bill that already passed Congress – then it is government shutdown time.
🖼 This infographic by Sputnik shows how many government shutdowns have taken place in the US since the 1980s and how long they lasted

🗣️ On the Biden administration’s desire to impose their hegemony on the world:
“The US is trying to impose diktat on the world, but it doesn't have the power to do so. And large portions of the world realize this full well. So therefore, you know, the BRICS countries are casting this whole effort off, but NATO is still going along with it. And it's crazy... Biden now recognizes that international law is not going its way. So therefore, he is casting it off and he is essentially now trying to rule by diktat, but it's just not going to work,” Dan Lazare, investigative journalist and author of America's Undeclared War, told Sputnik.

🇷🇺⚔️ The Russian military regularly fires special leaflets over Ukrainian troops' positions; these small papers serve as a "pass" for servicemen who want to lay down their arms.
Let's dig a bit deeper: why do the leaflets sometimes look like banknotes (hryvnias, dollars, euros)? How well does this method actually work in getting the enemy to surrender?

🌐 BRICS countries challenge West's abuse of global institutions, says Ethiopian expert
Having global institutions is not "a bad idea" as they "were set up to protect humanity and to resolve collective problems of humanity," Jafar Geletu, Deputy Executive Director of the Institute of International Relations under the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the 20th annual meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club.
"The problems come and there are shortcomings in dealing with global problems that the West, in my opinion, abused its dominant position after the end of the Cold War, that they used double standards. You know, they intervened in the sovereign territory of other countries to ensure their national security," the expert noted.
But with the BRICS countries presenting a united front , "this biased and specific abuse of these multilateral institutions and the system leadership of the West" began to be questioned as BRICS aims to "assert their position in this system," Jafar Geletu said.
