🇷🇸 Serbia has been resisting pressure to impose sanctions on Russia for about two years, which solidified its international reputation as a free and independent nation, President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday.
They have not yet 'brought the Tsar to the fence' [idiom, at the end of one's rope] on this issue, when this happens, I will not hide it from the people, and I will tell the people. But by doing so, Serbia has strengthened its reputation as a free and independent country that pursues its own policy, Vucic told a Serbian media.
The Serbian authorities have repeatedly pointed to growing pressure from the West over Belgrade's independent decision-making on the matter of sanctions.
"Don't forget — we are the only country in the whole of Europe that has not imposed sanctions against Russia for a little short of two years already. Although it seemed impossible … I only worked to protect the country and to pursue a responsible and serious policy," the Serbian president said.

🇩🇪 New German anti-war party already on par with Scholz's SDP, poll shows
Around 14% of Germans are ready to vote for the “Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht–For Reason and Justice” (BSW), a poll commissioned by Bild am Sonntag has revealed.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democratic Party is a mere one percentage point ahead of Wagenknecht’s brainchild, showed the survey, while two other members of the ruling coalition - the Green Party and the Free Democrats – trail behind with 12% and 5%, respectively.
These figures place the “Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht–For Reason and Justice” (BSW) in fourth place. The politician expects the new party to officially come into being in early 2024.

🇵🇸🇮🇱 Netanyahu’s dirty little secret: Why did Israeli PM once help prop up Hamas?
The violence in Israel, Gaza and the West Bank is rapidly shaping up to become one of the bloodiest-ever flashpoints in the 75-year-old Palestinian-Israeli crisis’s history, with Hamas’ surprise October 7 invasion blamed for triggering the carnage. But one little-talked about aspect of the conflict is the Israeli government and Benjamin Netanyahu’s personal role in supporting Hamas over the years.
A recent article in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz documents some of the ways Netanyahu has materially supported the armed group during his over 16 years as Israeli prime minister, including by reportedly allowing untraceable cash contributions from outside, and allowing Hamas leaders to operate freely outside the country, even as Israel keeps a tight grip on the rest of Gaza, which has been described as the world’s largest concentration camp.
In effect, Hamas and the Israeli government can be said to have had a symbiotic relationship aimed at fomenting perpetual conflict and discrediting the Palestinian cause in the eyes of the West.
