The man, whose name hasn’t been revealed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

🦠 The CDC is mulling implementing a “test-to-stay” programme for students who could have been exposed to COVID-19 in schools, CNN reports.

According to the programme, such students wouldn’t have to quarantine at home and could attend classes in person, as long as they test negative for the coronavirus and don’t have symptoms.

❗️ Former US Secretary of State Colin L. Powell has passed away due to complications from COVID-19 at Walter Reed National Medical Centre, according to a statement from his family. Per the post, Powell was fully vaccinated. Subscribe to @sputniknewsus
💉 According to the US media, Powell died at the age of 84 from COVID-related complications despite being fully vaccinated, having received his second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in February.

He reportedly suffered from other conditions, including Parkinson's disease and multiple myeloma, blood cancers that could interfere with recovery from a COVID-19 infection.

His family did not elaborate on when Powell received the vaccine or whether he had a booster shot

Oregon's largest city, Portland, has recorded 67 murders this year, three-quarters of which were by firearms. The total number of shootings - about 1000 - has also resulted in 314 injuries.

Police say many of the incidents involve gangs, brawls and retaliatory killings, but they also involve bystanders.

The murders are taking place as the Portland Police Department struggles to keep up in the face of severe staff shortages and budget cuts
