🇦🇷 Argentine people voted for right-wing economist Javier Milei out of "despair in a hopeless situation", Professor Heinz Dieterich told Sputnik.
The South American country is mired in foreign debt, with hyper-inflation, whose "political class is totally corrupt", the former adviser to late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez said. Weighing in on Milei’s suggestions of ditching the peso, "dollarizing’ the economy and possibly rejecting BRICS", Dieterich added:

"You don't need to be an economist to understand that from a macroeconomic point of view [these proposals] are complete nonsense. Their transcendental meaning is the end of the Argentine sovereign nation and its annexation as a kind of 'Free Associated State' like Puerto Rico or a kind of 51st state of the US."

“If you manage war keeping in mind that tomorrow you will do politics or elections, then in your words and on the front line you behave as a politician and not as a military man, and I think that is a huge mistake … With all the respect to Gen Zaluzhny and to all the commanders who are on the battlefield, there is an absolute understanding of the hierarchy and that is it, and there can’t be two, three, four, five.”

Euromaidan: Color Revolution that brought Ukraine to ruin
Tuesday is the 10th anniversary of the start of the Euromaidan (lit. “Euro Square”) protests in Kiev. Three months after the unrest began, in February 2014, the crisis culminated in the ouster of Ukraine’s democratically elected government, and its replacement with a fanatically pro-European, pro-NATO regime. What did the protesters want? And what did ordinary Ukrainians get?
‘Ukraine is Europe’
▪️ Wanted: Association Agreement with the European Union and speedy integration into the bloc, meaning economic aid, access to EU markets, and visa free travel with Schengen Zone countries.
▪️ Got: Uprisings in Crimea and the Donbass culminating in their breaking off from Ukraine, restricted access to EU markets and “anti-dumping” measures among bloc members bordering Ukraine, widespread depopulation (from 45.5 million in 2013 to as few as 19 million now), and vague promises on possible EU membership “decades” from now, to quote French President Emmanuel Macron.

‘Economic prosperity’
▪️ Wanted: Western levels of economic prosperity facilitated by charting a ‘European course’ and breaking off centuries of economic integratory ties with Russia.
▪️ Got: GDP per capita in purchasing power terms shrinking from about $13,000 in 2013 to $10,730 in 2022, inflation rising from near zero in 2013 to 20 percent in 2022, collapse of the hryvnia national currency’s value from 0.1126 USD in 2013 to 0.028 USD in 2023, national debt growing from 37.5 percent of GDP in 2013 to nearly 85 percent of GDP today, increase in the price of water, electricity, heating and other utilities by several hundred percent over the past decade.
‘No to corruption’
▪️ Wanted: An end to political corruption and largesse and a shrinking of the wealth gap between the country’s poorest and wealthiest citizens.
▪️ Got: “A country that is corrupt at all levels of society,” in former European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker’s words, and a slight increase in the GINI coefficient measuring inequality from 24.6 points in 2013 to 25.6 points in 2020.
Ukraine’s internal corruption turned outwards amid the pilfering and illegal resale of NATO military assistance to criminal gangs, militants and terrorist groups, prompting Interpol, Europol, and authorities from Europe and Africa to the Middle East to sound the alarm.

‘Dignity and freedom’
▪️ Wanted: A ‘Revolution of Dignity’ (as the Euromaidan coup is officially called) that would free Ukraine from the “authoritarian tendencies” of the Yanukovych government and strengthen the fundamental rights and freedoms of Ukrainian citizens.
▪️ Got: Wholesale bans on more than a dozen opposition political parties, a crackdown on Russian and other languages in education, media, publishing, and the creation of a “language ombudsman” to “protect Ukrainian” as the sole state language. Restrictions against trade unions, and media, an unprecedented crackdown on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which accounts for well over half of the country’s Orthodox believers, over claims of its “ties to Russia.” Threats by Zelensky to cancel the 2024 elections. Restrictions on movement of fighting-age men, who are not allowed to leave the country and face the constant threat of being grabbed on the street and sent to the front to fight Russia.
