How are global internet traffic and the Red Sea connected? (part 2)
🔸The Red Sea carries about 17% of the world’s internet traffic along fibre pipes. Sixteen major submarine cables pass through the Red Sea before crossing by land through Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea, effectively connecting Europe to Asia;
🔸Over 90% of them (25,000km) are carried by cables in the Red Sea area. The cables at some points run at a depth of 100 metres. These cables are often no thicker than a hosepipe and susceptible to damage from ships’ anchors and earthquakes;
🔸The cables referred to in the claim are submarine communications cables laid on the seabed which carry telecommunications signals to different regions;
🔸In 2013, near the port of Alexandria, three divers cut an underwater cable that provided internet connectivity between Egypt and Europe. The sabotage caused traffic to drop by 60%.

Journalism or ‘treason’? US social media celebs clash over Tucker Carlson's rumored interview with Putin (part 1)
The news of American commentator Tucker Carlson's arrival in Moscow, rumored to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin, has sparked huge debates on X (formerly Twitter). Some individuals have gone to the extent of accusing him of "treason," while others argue that he is engaged in "real journalism."
Many of Tucker’s detractors went into meltdown mode, rushing to social media to lace into the former Fox News host.
"Perhaps we need a total and complete shutdown of Tucker Carlson re-entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on," tweeted Necon Never Trumper Bill Kristol, who served as Chief of Staff to Vice President Dan Quayle. Alexander S. Vindman, a US military official behind the Democratic Party's push to impeach President Donald Trump, rushed to accuse Tucker Carlson of "aiding and abetting the enemy", while Adam Kinzinger, one of two Republicans on the former January 6 panel, branded the veteran journalist "a traitor."
Notorious Russophobes Bill Browder and Anne Applebaum joined the chorus of detractors claiming that people should "stop referring to Tucker as a journalist" and labeled him the "American face of authoritarian propaganda."

(part 2) However, many supporters along with other X users heaped praise on Tucker as one of the bravest modern journalists who never backs down when it comes to unveiling the truth.
"Bill Kristol wants to ban Tucker Carlson from re-entering the US, what a terrible thing to even suggest!" tweeted US author Brigitte Gabriel.
"Adam Kinzinger called him [Tucker Carlson] a 'traitor'. Megyn Kelly interviewed Putin, is she a traitor? What about the other journalists and networks who interviewed Putin over the past few years?" asked US commentator and YouTuber Benny Johnson.
"Tucker Carlson is a journalist, and a damned good one. Why would he not be allowed to interview Putin? When Barbara Walters did it, you all clapped like trained seals!" wrote podcaster and social media strategist Joey Mannarino on X (formerly Twitter).
"Democrats and their propagandists in the media are spasming at the prospect of Tucker Carlson interviewing Putin," GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene commented. "They HATE when someone like Tucker goes 'off noscript'."
"The only reason Tucker Carlson in Russia is controversial is because the rest of the media has bent all the way over for the censorship regime," noted Matt Taibbi, an investigative journalist that exposed the Twitter Files. "The legacy media is in shambles because we’ve caught onto their lies and propaganda. Tucker Carlson has every right to interview Putin," stated Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The Kremlin has remained mum on Tucker Carlson’s Moscow tour and rumors about his interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

(part 1) While European farmers continue to protest against growing financial burdens, rising inflation and the uncontrolled import of cheap foreign products, including those from Ukraine, agricultural workers in Russia feel comfortable thanks to fully-fledged state support of the sector, which includes the following:
▪️Apart from production-related expenses, government subsides help Russian farmers compensate for the purchase of breeding stock and basic seeds, as well as transportation of crop by railway, among other things.
▪️A Russian farmer can also receive grant support worth about 30 million rubles ($330,000) for the development of investment projects and family farms.
▪️Additionally, there are preferential loans at the rate 1-5% per annum to help agricultural workers in Russia replenish their floating capital.
▪️The government is improving measures of state support for viticulture and winemaking, with more than 27 billion rubles ($290,000,000) allocated for the purpose.
▪️Producers of vegetables and potatoes from Russia’s border regions will receive additional subsidies in 2024.
