US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday that it's possible parties may reach a deal on a temporary ceasefire for the release of hostages in the Gaza conflict, and the United States continues to work relentlessly to achieve this.

"We continue to believe that an agreement is possible and indeed essential, and we will continue to work relentlessly to achieve it," Blinken said during a press conference alongside the prime minister of Qatar.

The US is studying Hamas' response to the proposal for a new deal with Israel, with a deal possible, and the US expects to use any potential pause in fighting in Gaza to plan the post-war future of the enclave, according to Blinken.

Earlier, Qatar's prime minister confirmed receiving Hamas' positive response and claimed to be optimistic regarding the framework of the hostage deal. Hamas also confirmed that the movement had sent its response concerning the hostage deal.

US National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby apologized on Tuesday for incorrectly telling the press on Friday that the US had notified Iraq in advance of the retaliatory strikes it had launched in the country earlier that day.

“I deeply apologize for the error and I regret any confusion that it caused. It was based on information we had or that was provided to me in those early hours after the strikes. Turns out that information was incorrect and I certainly regret the error and I hope that you'll understand there was no ill intent behind it, no deliberate intent to deceive or to be wrong,” Kirby said at the press briefing.

A State Department spokesperson clarified on Monday that Iraqi officials were only informed after the strikes were launched. The US launched airstrikes against 85 targets in Iraq and Syria on Friday believed to be linked to Iran in retaliation for a drone attack in Jordan that killed three US service personnel.

🇩🇪 Middle class joins farmers to protest in Germany

Hundreds of tractors came to Lübeck on Tuesday for a demonstration during a visit by Finance Minister Christian Lindner, who held a civic dialogue in the city. Apart from tractors, trucks and cars also participated in the protest.

According to participants, it was not only farmers who protested, “but the entire middle class.” Lindner was met with loud whistles and shouts from disgruntled citizens.

The chairman of the regional farmers' association told Lindner during the dialogue that incoming Ukrainian grain is displacing domestic products, “with which our yards are overflowing."

Even if US doubles its output of ammo it won't turn the tide of the Ukraine conflict

"[The US] can help Ukraine cope with its munition needs, but that is not the same thing as saying this measure will turn the tide in the Ukraine [conflict] and put Ukraine at a distinct advantage against the Russian Federation," Dr. Matthew Crosston, professor of national security and director of academic transformation at Bowie State University, told Sputnik.

The US output of 155 mm ammo could rise from 28,000 shells last October to about 60,000 in October 2024 and reach a whopping 100,000 in October 2025, army acquisition chief Doug Bush announced at a CSIS think tank event on February 5. The US official noted, however, that reaching next year's goal of 100,000 shells per month would require American lawmakers to pass a Ukraine aid bill.

Doubling the existing output capacity doesn't sound unrealistic, according to Crosston. However, expanding the production further for the Kiev regime's needs would require the Pentagon to use its PR skills, the professor noted, referring to the House Republicans' unwillingness to pour good money after bad to Ukraine. The Senate's $118 bipartisan bill which contains $60 billion for Kiev is doomed, the GOP warned.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon's willingness to step up ammo production means that the US military is bracing for new conflicts, the professor suggested.

"It seems obvious that the US military is estimating that the immediate conflict map for the United States is becoming more complicated, not less."

US journalist Tucker Carlson said that he would interview Russian President Vladimir Putin as a journalistic duty, as well as to inform Americans about the realities of the conflict in Ukraine.

“We’re in Moscow tonight. We’re here to interview the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin,” Carlson said in a video posted to social media platform X. “Here’s why we’re doing it. First, because it’s our job. We’re in journalism. Our duty is to inform people.”

Most people in the United States are not informed about the conflict in Ukraine and have no idea what is happening in the region, Carlson said.

❗️ Tucker Carlson: Ukraine conflict has dramatically reshaped the world

“This war has utterly reshaped global military and trade alliances, and the sanctions that followed has a well. And in total, they have upended the global economy. The post-World War II economic order, the system which guaranteed prosperity in the West for more than 80 years is coming apart very fast, and along with it the dominance of the US dollar. These are not small changes, these are history altering developments.”
