👩‍🔬US scientists have revealed that the world’s first living robots - xenobots - can reproduce, according to the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Xenobots - synthetic lifeforms less than a millimeter wide - were created in 2020 using the heart and skin stem cells from the African clawed frog embryos. Back then, the experiments showed that they could move and self-heal.

The xenobots’ creators at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering say that the robots are capable of self-reproduction in a small dish, shifting free cells and creating new xenobots in 5 days.
