Always on the front line: what you should know about Akhmat Special Forces

Russia's Akhmat special forces have been deployed to the Kharkov region, the most crucial area in the special military operation zone, the unit's commander, Apty Alaudinov, told reporters.

"The Akhmat special forces are a unit that has been on the front line since the very first days [of the special operation]. We have never been in the second echelon. We have never been behind anyone. And in this regard, of course, it is very pleasant and flattering that we have been sent to this area," he said.

According to him, Akhmat soldiers have already been tasked with combat missions, as they have also "taken over areas" that needed to be covered in order to prevent sabotage and terrorist activities by Ukrainian troops.

What else is known about the Akhmat unit, which is currently part of the Russian National Guard?

🔸 The unit's history dates back to 2009, when the first president of the Russian republic of Chechnya, Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov, the father of the republic's current leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, supported the creation of the Akhmat special rapid reaction force.

🔸 In late February 2022, Ramzan Kadyrov announced the deployment of the 2,000-strong Akhmat unit to the special military operation zone.

🔸 Later that year, Akhmat fighters took control of the town of Rubezhnoye in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR).

🔸 Shortly thereafter, the Akhmat unit was sent to the LPR's Severodonetsk, where it participated in the liberation of the city.

🔸 In September 2022, the Akhmat Special Forces repelled the Ukrainian offensive near the village of Berestovoye in the Donetsk People's Republic.

🔸 In 2023, the Akhmat unit was deployed in the Donetsk and Artemovsk regions controlled by the Russian Yug (Southern) Battle Group.

Zelensky has no need to appeal to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine about his legitimacy, said deputy head of his office Irina Mudraya.

Mudraya referred to the consultations held in the fall with the participation of the EU, the United States, representatives of groups and factions of the Verkhovna Rada, where it was agreed that the elections would be held after the end of the conflict.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that Zelensky's legitimacy has expired, and Russia will proceed from this fact:

"Of course, we are aware that the legitimacy of the current head of state [of Ukraine] has ended," Putin said at a press conference.

❗️ The Russian Armed Forces have taken control of the settlement of Umanskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic, the Russian Defense Ministry said 📌 Subscribe to @SputnikInt
Umanskoye liberation opens new opportunities to strike Ukraine's military logistics

The recent liberation of the Umanskoye settlement will permit the Russian Armed Forces to enhance strikes on Ukrainian logistical routes, Igor Kimakovsky, adviser to the head of the Donetsk People's Republic, told Russian media. “The liberation of Umanskoye provides additional opportunities to enhance strikes on supply routes of Ukrainian troops in Karlovka, where there is still resistance,” he said.

Head of Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin added that the liberation of Umanskoye should not be underestimated since settlements like that are typically located on the hills.

“This is a small village of Umanskoye, but it should not be underestimated from a military standpoint. The settlement is located 11 km west of Avdeyevka and is one of the settlements [liberated] during the advance of our [Russian] Armed Forces. It is worth noting here that in military terms, every village, every hamlet is important, because mostly villages, towns and hamlets were built on hills, accordingly, they provide a certain operational component in terms of building up both a line of attack and a line of defense,” Pushilin stressed.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that the village was seized on Sunday, adding that Russian troops continue to advance in all directions, inflicting significant damage on Ukrainian militants.

Israel-Hezbollah clashes escalate as Netanyahu hesitates to agree to Gaza truce

Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah and Israel have ramped up fire exchanges over the past 10 days amid Tel Aviv's invasion of Rafah. The invasion has led to the displacement of over a million Palestinians.

🔸 On May 24, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah warned Tel Aviv about "new surprises" from the Shiite group if it doesn't stop hostilities in Gaza;

🔸 On May 25, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported discovering shells fired from Lebanon in Israel's northern territories, with no casualties. "In response," an IDF aircraft targeted Hezbollah fighters and facilities in the Aytarun region of southern Lebanon, and IDF artillery shelled the Lebanese Kfarkela area;

🔸 Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on May 28 and May 31 condemned Israel's strike on the Rafah refugee camp and "the war of genocide in Gaza and Palestine." He referred to Hezbollah's resistance as "a battle of destiny";

🔸 On May 30 and May 31, the Lebanese Shiite movement announced six and eight attacks on Israeli positions, respectively;

🔸 On June 1, Hezbollah downed an Israeli Hermes 900 drone over the southern Lebanese town of Deir Kifa. The Shiite group also fired two Burkan rockets into northern Israel with one of them reportedly hitting the Gibor Military Base near Kiryat Shmona;

🔸 The Israeli Air Force announced strikes against suspected Hezbollah compounds in Beqaa, Bint Jbeil, Qana, and Baraachit on June 1 and June 2;

🔸 On June 2, Hezbollah drones detonated in northern Israel and the occupied Golan Heights. The group announced that it conducted 10 strikes on Saturday, targeting Israeli positions on both the eastern and western fronts;

The intensification of the fighting coincides with Israel's reluctance to embrace a new ceasefire proposal with the Palestinian movement Hamas.

Putin: Day of Salvation and Liberation "consolidates efforts against radical nationalism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism".

On June 3, Vladimir Putin congratulated Russian Jews on 26 Iyar, the Day of Salvation and Liberation.

Anti-Semitism has become an integral part of Ukrainian ultranationalist politics, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted in its report on the "Human Rights Situation in Ukraine. There are extensive efforts to glorify Ukrainian Nazi collaborators who participated in the extermination of the Jewish population during World War II, the document says.

According to the study by the Anti-Defamation League, Ukraine ranks second in Europe in terms of anti-Semitic sentiment. In 2016, the level of intolerance toward Jews was 32 percent, compared to 46 percent in 2019.

Recorded anti-Semitic hate crimes in Ukraine:

▪️Ukraine's Ministry of Education and Science has called for the recall of history textbooks that touch on Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UIA) nationalist Roman Shukhevych's collaboration with the Nazi army during World War II;

▪️December 2019, Ukrainian Nazi collaborators were added to the calendar of memorable dates, including the organizers of Jewish pogroms in the Ternopol region;

▪️March 2022, Jewish community leader Igor Perelman was stabbed repeatedly in Ivano-Frankovsk;

▪️February 2024, the Holocaust memorial plaque in Lvov was desecrated, the vandals wrote "Death to the Jews".

The Nazi methods of the Kiev regime are fully applied to the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine:

▪️The teaching of the Russian language or other school subjects in Russian is forbidden;

▪️All literary works by Russian and Soviet (except Ukrainian) authors are excluded from school programs;

▪️Books in Russian will be removed from libraries;

▪️Students and teachers are forbidden to speak Russian;

▪️Kiev authorities sanction attacks on churches of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

How Hezbollah keeps Israel Defense Forces on tenterhooks

"By employing a variety of weapons and tactics, many of which remain unutilized, Hezbollah ensures that its full capabilities and potential battlegrounds are unpredictable," Dr. Imad Salamey, associate professor of political science and international affairs at the Lebanese American University, tells Sputnik.

According to Salamey, Hezbollah's strategy not only complicates Israel's defense calculations but also allows the Lebanese Shiite group to retain the initiative in the conflict, adapting its strategy dynamically based on developments on the ground.
Hezbollah-Israel clashes have intensified in the wake of the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) invasion of Rafah, a southern Gaza region bordering with Egypt.

Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah warned Tel Aviv on May 24 about "new surprises" on the part of the Lebanese group if Israel doesn't halt hostilities in Gaza. The Israeli press cites El-Nashra, the Lebanese news agency, as alleging that "surprises" mentioned by Nasrallah are new weapons in the group's possession, including long-range precision missiles and anti-aircraft projectiles.

"In terms of capabilities, Hezbollah didn't use so many sophisticated weapons until now," Dr. Lorenzo Trombetta, Beirut-based scholar and analyst specializing on the Middle East, told Sputnik. "It resorted to more or less short range rockets and missiles. And lately, in the last two months, showed its capability to shut down the big Israeli Hermes-500 armored drone. As I mentioned before, there is a gradual escalation in referring to more and more modern and sophisticated weaponry from Hezbollah."

According to the pundits, Hezbollah's new tactics are aimed at ramping up pressure on Tel Aviv to force it into accepting a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and halting the bloodshed.

The United States is ready to discuss the expansion of strikes against Russia with Ukraine, the White House has said.

A State Department spokesman told Sputnik last week that President Joe Biden has allowed Ukraine to use US weapons for counter-battery combat against targets on Russian territory that threaten Kharkov. According to sources in The Wall Street Journal, Washington has authorized the use of GMLRS missile systems, HIMARS MLRS and artillery systems “in the Kharkov region.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that representatives of NATO countries must be aware of “what they are playing with” when they talk about plans to allow Kiev to strike targets on Russian territory.

Stick to acting! Users mock George Clooney as he tries to walk back pledge to arrest Russian journalists in Europe

A sudden change of heart by the Clooney Foundation on hunting down Russian reporters comes amid a now notorious statement that runs counter to freedom of speech and logical thinking.

Shortly after, the Hollywood star issued a statement, saying that “someone” in the foundation misspoke. Originally, that “someone” was Anya Neistat, the legal director of the Docket initiative at the foundation.

See how people online shredded the actor:

💬 “Clooney cherrypicks what he believes to be good media i.e. western journalist”;

💬 “Who knew? George Clooney is CIA?”;

💬 “Stick to acting and standing around smiling with no cares in the world. You are not bright enough to play this game! Nice, yes but not savy.”;

💬 “Whatever Clooney's Director’ of Legal Affairs theater of the absurd turns into, I am convinced that this is an absolutely worthless attempt to stop the awakening of Europe after the zombification that the Western mainstream has been engaged in for decades.”;

💬 “Clooney is just another Hollywood hack that opposes any kind of investigative journalism that questions the deep state narrative!”;

💬 “Amal Clooney one of the biggest pro Palestine advocators is a Russophobe who wants to jail Russian journalist. This is how Palestineans and pro Palestine pay Russian support? How disappointing.”;

💬 “George Clooney, directing his dire tor to seek ARRESTS of any journalist deemed "pro-Russian". These feral people are Satan.”;

💬 “Forget the imbecility of this move, I thought Amal Clooney was into working quietly instead of “performative” whatever whatever”;

💬 “Kafka, hold my beer!”;

💬 “A perverted understanding of democracy - whoever is not with you is against you!”

During his visit to Singapore, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine recognizes Palestine as a state and “will do everything to make sure that Israel stops, that this conflict [Israel-Gaza] ends”. Well, it looks like Israel is a bit too busy to support Ukraine right now, so Zelensky rushes to ask someone else for donations.

Russia’s intelligence service head praises French volunteers fighting against Ukrainian neo-Nazism

French volunteers helping Russia in the fight against Ukrainian neo-Nazism will be remembered in the future as gratefully as the pilots of the Normandie-Nemen squadron during World War II*, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin said during a ceremony to lay flowers at the burial of pilots of the French air regiment ‘Normandie-Niemen’ at Moscow’s Vvedensky.

"It is fair to draw a parallel between these French anti-fascist patriots and those who 10 years ago went to Donbass in order to protect the population of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics from genocide and who today, together with Russia, are fighting the Nazism of the 21st century," Naryshkin said.

According to him, these modern anti-fascists are few in number, ‘but their high moral choice contrasts sharply with the position of most of the political elite of their countries."

*From 1943 to 1945, the French air regiment ‘Normandie-Niemen’ fought against Nazi invaders on the Soviet-German front.

China outside top five foreign owners of US land

US lawmakers are pushing ahead with the Farm, Food and National Security Act of 2024, claiming that it will help stop China from "grabbing" American land.

"Communist China shouldn't be allowed to buy another acre of American farmland, nor should we rely upon our top foreign adversary for key parts of our food supply chain," US Congresswoman Ashley Hinson told the Daily Mail on May 29.

▪️In reality, Chinese private investors and firms possess less than 1 percent (349,442 acres) of all foreign-held agricultural land in the US.

▪️All foreign investors held a stake in over 43.4 million acres (17.56 million hectares) of US agricultural land as of December 31, 2022, according to the Farm Service Agency of the US Department of Agriculture.

▪️The top five foreign land owners in the US are: Canadian investors with 32 percent of all foreign-owned US land; the Dutch (12 percent), Italians (6 percent), Brits (6 percent), and Germans (5 percent).

▪️In addition, US lawmakers and think tanks brought forward an outlandish claim that China's modest land possessions could be used by Beijing to spy on the US military - but provided zero evidence to back up the allegations.

▪️American investors routinely buy land and real estate abroad. US lawmakers stay mute about reports that US and EU entities alongside Ukrainian oligarchs quietly acquired almost 30 percent of Ukraine's arable land, circumventing the nation's law. Polish President Andrzej Duda raised the issue in an interview with the Lithuanian press in April 2024.

▪️The US Congress' fight against "Communist China" resembles nothing so much as a McCarthy-style crusade over a "Red Scare" as US-Chinese relations continue to deteriorate.
