According to the state health department, New York just passed 21,000 new infections in only one day, the highest number of daily Covid cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
The newly discovered omicron variant is spreading rapidly and already comprises 13.1% of all cases.
The latest spike has already led to cancellations of live performances like the Rockettes “Christmas Spectacular” at Radio City Music Hall and “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” on Broadway.

The research team reported that one of the drones flipped over a few times and slid up and down 50-foot (15-meter) swells. The scientists will continue to comb over the data in the coming months, but the preliminary findings show how natural processes can influence hurricanes and even build on climate change’s effects

According to the local authorities, new homicide records have been set in 16 U.S. cities this year. From the East Coast to the West, police departments have noted a worsening trend.
For example, Austin, Texas saw a record 88 homicide deaths in 2021; in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the number of homicides was 524 in 2021, with its previous record being 500 in 1990. Other cities like Tucson, Portland, Houston, Atlanta, New Haven, Indianapolis and Memphis, are also nearing record high homicide levels in 2021.
