‘In command Trump and stumbling Biden’: How world press reacted to first US presidential debate
The June 27 presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump at CNN's Atlanta studios has made headlines in the US and around the world, with many acknowledging POTUS' "disastrous" performance during the event.
🔹 CNN cited Biden’s “poor showing”, while CBS News pointed to the US president’s efforts “to struggle with hoarse voice” at the beginning of the debate.
🔹 The New York Times went further by reporting that Biden’s “fumbling, shaky and halting” performance “has top Democrats talking about replacing him on the ticket.”
🔹 The same tone was struck by Politico as the news outlet noted that POTUS’ “disjointed” and “rambling” answers reignited “Democratic concerns about his age and ability to take on former President Donald Trump.”
🔹 Politico was echoed by the New York Post, which reported about Biden’s “calamitous debate against Trump as Democrats freak out.”
🔹 In the same vein, UK media outlets referred to Trump’s apparent victory in the June 27 event, with Sky News rolling out the headline “In command Trump and stumbling Biden face off in first presidential debate.”
🔹 The Times, in turn, pointed out that “Democrats panic after president ‘freezes’”, while The Telegraph reported that Democrats “are in talks to replace Biden after the disastrous debate.”
🔹 Jen Psaki, former White House press secretary for the Biden administration and current MSNBC pundit, has since admitted that "It was not a good night for Joe Biden,” and that “it wasn't a good debate performance."
🔹 Julian Castro, former US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, noted that “Biden had a very low bar going into the debate and failed to clear even that bar.” According to Castro, the US president “seemed unprepared, lost, and not strong enough to parry effectively with Trump.”

What did Trump and Biden call each other during debate?
The US presidential debate revealed the presidential candidates not only by their plans, but also by the way they behaved.
▪️ During the debate, Joe Biden called Donald Trump a "sucker" and a "loser." He also called the former president a "whiner" over Trump's response to the American justice system.
▪️ Trump, in turn, said that Joe Biden's is "the worst presidency in the history of our country" and said the only reason he was there was because Biden is "so bad as a president."

Meme Check: How did netizens react to US presidential debates?
Trump and Biden met tonight in the much-anticipated debates to win or, in some cases, lose the support of voters.
After the debate, netizens began to spread images and comments with sarcastic content toward Biden; in particular, he was compared to a ship from which Democratic rats are already fleeing.
Elon Musk called Internet memes the winner of the US election debate between Trump and Biden, and the event itself, in his opinion, was "preparation for the replacement" of the incumbent president as the candidate of the Democratic Party.

How did a psychiatrist analyze Biden’s and Trump’s body language and mental health?
What hidden messages are in Biden's body language?
▪️“Biden showed some of the typical signs of lying, such as being short of breath, having a rigid body, staring, shuffling, and having increasing difficulty trying to speak,” per Lieberman.
▪️He “had a hollow stare, a shaky voice and seemed as though he might not make it through the whole 90 minutes - but was going to collapse right there.”
▪️POTUS’ most striking problem - which viewers could not but notice – “was his getting lost in the middle of sentences,” she points out.
What did Trump’s body language say?
🔺In contrast, the former US president “was much stronger and passionate” about what's wrong with his country and “his desire to fix it.”
🔺“He brought up a lot of great points. I loved when he said he didn't understand what Biden had just said, and he doesn't think Biden understood it either. He didn't want to pretend that Biden was making sense.”
🔺On the other hand, Trump “let his narcissism show when he kept saying his policies were the greatest and everyone loves him.”
“There's no question that Trump came out the winner” of the June 27 US presidential debate between him and Biden, Lieberman concludes.

“It seems like he [Biden] was on some performance-enhancing drug, but it was either a lower dose or a less potent drug,” Carole Lieberman, a board-certified psychiatrist and best-selling author based in Beverly Hills, California, tells Sputnik.

“This is true for the most part, but he gave the people who like to say he's a narcissist something to point to. He needs to tone this down a little so more people can feel warm and fuzzy towards him,” she says.
