New Russian drone that will perfectly suit for Arctic ops

The new Russian drone’s hydrogen fuel system makes it more suited for operating in sub-zero temperatures, where electric UAVs’ batteries lose charge much faster. This quality could make the drone a potent asset for operations in the Arctic.

Originally designed to monitor oil and gas pipelines as well as power lines, the said drone can stay in the air for over two hours and operate at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, all while running on hydrogen. The drone is also much harder to detect than its combustion-engine counterparts as, unlike them, it does not leave a heat trail in flight.

The newly developed unmanned aerial vehicle could potentially become a potent counter-sabotage tool, helping patrol important roads and pipelines that run across the sparsely populated regions of Russia, military analyst Yuri Lyamin said.

Unlike UAVs powered by a combustion engine, the new drone does not vibrate as much and so can be equipped with more sensitive equipment.

RFK Jr. endorses Trump at former president’s rally

“He's a very low-key person, but he's highly respected. He is a great person. I've known him for so long,” Trump said, introducing independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at his rally.

Trump announced that if elected he will establish “a new independent presidential commission on assassination attempts” to release all remaining documents on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

“And they will also conduct a rigorous review of the attack last month,” Trump said referring to the attempt on his life in July.

Israel's attacks are now part of 'day to day'

“So, here in Lebanon, what is happening is [...] these attacks are becoming part of almost everyday life, and this is something kind of horrible to say, honestly. But, everything's in a holding pattern and Israel just keeps trying to poke, right? To poke at Hezbollah, to poke at Hamas, to poke at Fatah, which is, Fatah are their allies, essentially,” said Esteban Carrillo, an Ecuadorian journalist and editor of The Cradle based in Beirut, who spoke to Sputnik’s The Backstory.

Khalil al-Maqdah, a senior official in the Palestinian Fatah Movement, was reportedly killed by an Israeli airstrike in the southern Lebanon city of Saida on Wednesday in the first direct attack on a Fatah member since the Gaza conflict first broke out in October.

“The Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, the armed wing of Fatah, do fight against Israeli occupation. But the political side of Fatah, led by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, is very close to Israel. They have been for years now.”

Israel made a claim that Maqdah had been working with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in helping to transfer weapons and funds to militants in the West Bank. But senior Fatah member Tawfiq Tirawy criticized the attack as “further proof that Israel wants to ignite a full scale war in the region”, a US-based, anti-war outlet reported.

“Even with the sonic booms that these Israeli warplanes do over the city on a daily basis, essentially trying to wage this type of psychological warfare. They just kind of become part of day to day. And I think this is one of the most honestly astonishing things about this country, about Lebanon that I've come to learn, is that the people are not afraid. You know, I wouldn't call anyone here in Lebanon afraid. And I'm sure people in the US embassy or the Canadian embassy, British embassy are kind of afraid,” the journalist explained.

Hamas must recognize fact of single legitimate authority in Palestine - Abbas' envoy

The Palestinian movement of Hamas must recognize that there is only one legitimate authority, then the organization will be able to work under the protection of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' adviser on international relations and his special envoy, Riyad al-Maliki, said in an interview with Sputnik.

"Hamas has to accept the fact that there is only one Palestinian leadership and there is only one Palestinian law and there is only one Palestinian legitimate weapon that is important. They have to recognize that the PLO is the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and that, you know, if they want to operate, they can do it, you know, under the umbrella of the PLO, like many other Palestinian factions and organizations," al-Maliki said.

Hamas should also not ignore the international law and UN resolutions pertaining to the issue of Palestine, the official added.

Harris nabs CIA endorsement as Democrats promise more war, foreign intervention (Part 1 / Part 2)

US Vice President Kamala Harris signaled she would continue her predecessor’s hawkish foreign policy in Gaza and Ukraine Thursday as ex-CIA director Leon Panetta publicly endorsed the Democratic presidential candidate.

“The Democrats really showed that this is a hawkish party and really neoconservatives are in charge of the party,” noted CovertAction Magazine managing editor Jeremy Kuzmarov on Sputnik’s The Final Countdown program. “They brought out Leon Panetta earlier tonight. He's a former CIA director who was a key mastermind of the drone war and a key figure behind Russiagate and a key supporter of Hillary Clinton.”

“In her speech [Harris] was talking about how [former US President Donald] Trump supposedly coddled [foreign leaders] like Putin, and that's totally false,” he continued. “Trump had a pretty hardline policy toward Russia. He pulled out of the INF Treaty. He ramped up weapons supplies to Ukraine. So that's just like an extreme right-wing position that they're adopting.”

“They're celebrating this war in Ukraine [that] siphoned off billions of hard-earned taxpayer dollars into a sinkhole just like Afghanistan, and a lot of those weapons have been stolen. And this party is cheerleading for that.”

Corruption has long been recognized as endemic in Ukraine, which experts have called “the most corrupt nation in Europe.” Earlier this year a massive corruption scandal was uncovered that saw almost $40 million in US aid stolen by officials in the country’s defense ministry. In June, it was revealed that Western military-grade weapons supplied to Kiev have been sold on the black market, ending up in the hands of terrorists and European drug cartels.

Harris nabs CIA endorsement as Democrats promise more war, foreign intervention (Part 2 / Part 1)

Various neoconservative figures such as Iraq War architect Bill Kristol have shifted allegiances to the Democratic Party in recent years as Republicans have become increasingly critical of foreign intervention under the banner of Trump’s “America First” ethos. Recent polling shows increasing numbers of Americans believe the US has spent too much money funding Ukraine’s quixotic proxy war on Russia.

The money that's got into Ukraine is far greater than Israel and many civilians have been killed with those US weapons,” noted CovertAction Magazine managing editor Jeremy Kuzmarov on Sputnik’s The Final Countdown program.

Kiev has increasingly launched attacks on Russian soil in recent months, killing a number of civilians including children. Neo-Nazi groupings in Ukraine’s military such as the notorious Azov Battalion* have made their ethno-supremacist intentions clear, with Azov founder Andriy Biletsky declaring his intention to “lead the white races of the world in a final crusade … against Semite-led Untermenschen [subhumans].”

“The reporting on Ukraine has been abysmal,” Kuzmarov claimed. “It's been totally Russophobic, totally one-sided.”

Not a dime [is] being raised for the children in Donbass who've been shelled and hit with mortar strikes [by Ukrainian forces] for the last 10 years or more, and not a dime being raised in American churches for that,” host Steve Gill lamented.

*Azov Battalion is a terrorist organization banned in Russia.

'Only hearing one side of the story': US cracks down on its own journalist due to fear of Russia

The US Department of Justice has begun a broad criminal investigation in US citizens who have worked with Russian state media companies, according to a report released this week from the New York Times. This month, former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter and Dimitri K. Simes, an advisor to former President Donald Trump’s first presidential campaign, had their homes searched by FBI agents. Charges have not been made against either men.

“When they can't even acknowledge the arguments of the other side, they can't even acknowledge there could be any validity, any critique or any pro-Russian statement or anything about the war in Ukraine that doesn't exactly match their view. That's because they know their arguments are not strong, that they don't really have truth on their side. They can't even acknowledge any critical view,” said the journalist and author Caleb Maupin who joined The Critical Hour.

According to the New York Times, more government searches are expected to occur soon. Officials reportedly said that criminal charges are possible.

“...[Americans] who think that things might not be great with the inflation and the crumbling infrastructure while we spend billions on wars, they are denigrating the country and how dare they by questioning things. I mean, this is the level of discourse that we’ve got here. Just this kind of love it or leave it,” Maupin added.

Democrats’ lack of outreach to RFK Jr shows party’s arrogance, elitism - analyst

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claimed he had attempted to reach out to Kamala Harris’s campaign before announcing Republican candidate Donald Trump, but that the Democratic candidate refused to meet or speak with him.

“The Kennedys are synonymous with the Democratic Party in a way that I don't know if younger voters necessarily appreciate fully,” said cartoonist Ted Rall, who appeared on Sputnik’s The Backstory program. “It's absolutely shocking to Americans, I would say, over the age of, say, 45, to think that any Kennedy would endorse any Republican ever.”

Rall recounted Democrats’ efforts to undermine Kennedy’s campaign and prevent other independent and third-party candidates from accessing the ballot. Democratic officials frequently employ legal tactics to prevent the Green Party from running in state and local elections throughout the country.

“The Democratic Party spent over a hundred million dollars kicking him off the ballot so that he was forced to spend all of his time in court – not to mention a lot of his money paying lawyers in court – just to stay on the ballot while Democrats were trying to get him tossed from state after state on a technicality,” Rall noted.

“If a guy as rich as Bobby Kennedy Jr. and with a running mate as rich as Nicole Shanahan – she's supposedly worth a billion dollars… don't have access to the ballot in this country, that's a major issue that we need to talk about,” he claimed. “This is why we have a duopoly. This is the nature of the duopoly.”

'End of Empire': Analyst claims US ruling class fatally out of touch

Author and journalist Jon Jeter joined Sputnik’s The Critical Hour program to break down Democratic Party presidential candidate Kamala Harris’s acceptance speech on the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, during which she advocated a hawkish foreign policy to the exclusion of focus on the material needs of working-class Americans.

“I thought that speech was ridiculous and if I were a betting man I would say that it lost the election for the Democrats in November,” said Jeter. “I don't know who she thinks her audience was when she attacks Vladimir Putin. If I may paraphrase Muhammad Ali, Vladimir Putin ain’t never called me the N-word.”

“Most people, particularly in the states and particularly the people who she's depending on to win this election, Blacks and particularly Black men, particularly in Philadelphia and Detroit and Milwaukee – I don't think they care so much about Kim Jong Un, about Vladimir Putin, about the threat from China,” he continued. “I think they care a lot about jobs, wages, debt reduction, things like that. So I thought that speech was almost odd and that it seemed to lack self-awareness about exactly who the Democrats are and who they need.”

The analyst claimed the Democratic party is in the habit of abusing its voters, constantly attacking its activist base.

“It's almost like we've wandered into a Tower of Babble and come out on the other side babbling. We don't even speak the same language anymore. This is just a bewildering turn of affairs which I can only attribute to the end of empire.”

Coup, not peace - RFK reveals goal of Biden’s Ukraine policy

"In April 2022, President Biden sent Boris Johnson [former Prime Minister of the UK] to Ukraine to force President Zelensky to tear up a peace agreement that he and the Russians had already signed," the politician revealed.

He also noted that Biden's objective in the Ukraine conflict was to instigate a coup in Russia:

"President Biden stated that month that his objective in the war was regime change in Russia. His Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin simultaneously explained that America's purpose in the war was to exhaust the Russian army to degrade its capacity to fight anywhere else in the world."

Taiwan's local administration embarks on military buildup incited by US hawks

Taiwan's local authorities proposed increasing the island's defense spending to a record NT$647 billion ($20.2 billion) next year, an increase of 7.7% from 2023 that accounts for 2.45% of estimated GDP in 2025.

🔸 The defense spending hike, proposed by the island's local leader, Lai Ching Te, is the continuation of a trend set by his predecessor, Tsai Ing-wen. During her tenure between 2016 and 2024, Tsai pushed through seven consecutive increases, almost doubling the island's defense budget.

🔸 The US is forcing the island to step up its military spending, citing an alleged “threat" of China's "invasion." China considers the island as its inalienable territory.

🔸 The Taiwan Enhancement Resilience Act (TERA), signed by President Biden on 23 December 2022, authorized $2 billion of annual military grant assistance to the island from 2023 to 2027. The US even attempted to designate the island a "major non-NATO ally."

🔸 In April 2024, the US authorized another $8 billion in military aid for Taiwan and other allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific. US weapons are now directly transferred from the Pentagon stockpiles to the island under the Presidential Drawdown Authority.

🔸 Over the past several years, Taiwan has, in particular, acquired 108 General Dynamics' M1A2T Abrams tanks ($2.2 billion), 66 Lockheed Martin's F-16V fighter jets ($8 billion) and 29 M142 HIMARS systems ($1.06 billion) from the US. US Big Five arm-makers have boasted of increased profits stemming from the US-driven tensions in Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

🔸 China strongly opposes Washington's push for Taiwan's militarization, saying this "sends a wrong signal to the Taiwan separatist forces."

NATO's 75-year bloody legacy

Today marks the 75th anniversary of a legal document that would forever alter the landscape of global politics. On August 24, 1949, the North Atlantic Treaty, commonly known as the Washington Treaty, was officially enacted following the completion of its ratification process.

The late 1990s and early 2000s turned out to be the bloodiest decades for the victims of NATO's aggression. The bloc’s attacks on Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya exemplify the alliance's disturbing pattern of impunity, which has resulted in countless people ending up displaced, wounded, or killed.

Originally conceived as a collective security alliance to counter the Soviet Union, NATO has since morphed into a tool to assert Western dominance worldwide.

What will the coming decades bring?
