Special Counsel David Weiss criticized President Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter, stating in a report to Congress that it blocks further accountability for crimes committed over the past 11 years.
💬 “Before Mr. Biden could be sentenced... President Biden pardoned his son for all criminal offenses,” Weiss wrote. The comments were part of Weiss's 280-page final report, reviewed by Congress on Monday, as reported by The Hill and Daily Mail.
💬 House Oversight Chairman James Comer called the pardon a shield for corruption: “This sweeping pardon prevents the Special Counsel from holding Hunter Biden accountable for the international influence peddling racket only made possible by Joe Biden,” Comer said.
💬 “Joe Biden will be remembered for using his last few weeks in office to shield his son from the law,” he added.
Weiss also rejected claims by President Biden that the investigation was politically motivated, saying that they "undermine the public's confidence in our criminal justice system."

Firefighters are battling the Jurupa Fire, which broke out near the Santa Ana River in Riverside County on Monday evening. Now over one acre in size (approximately 4,000 square meters), the fire is spreading in the riverbed and has prompted evacuation warnings, KTLA5 reported.
The fire began around 5 p.m. and quickly spread at a moderate rate through the riverbed. Crews are working to contain the blaze ahead of severe Santa Ana winds forecast for Tuesday.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) of South Korea reported the launch of several unidentified projectiles, presumed to be short-range ballistic missiles, from the Kanggye area in Chagang Province toward the Sea of Japan on Tuesday, January 14, at approximately 9:30 a.m. local time (00:30 GMT).
According to the JCS, the missiles flew about 250 kilometers before falling into the Sea of Japan.
