🇺🇸🇺🇳 An escalation in Ukraine may create the worst refugee crisis in the world today, with some 5 million people possibly displaced, US envoy to the UN says.
"If Russia continues down this path, it could, according to our estimates, create a new refugee crisis, one of the largest facing the world today, with as many as 5 million more people displaced by Russia's war of choice and putting pressure on Ukraine’s neighbors," Linda Thomas-Greenfield claimed.
Since Ukraine is among the world's largest wheat suppliers, the conflict could also cause a spike in food prices and lead to even more desperate hunger in places like Libya, Yemen, and Lebanon, she added.

🚨 One person has died and three others sustained injuries after a pit bull allegedly attacked them at an RV encampment in Lancaster, California.
The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found one person unconscious and not breathing. The individual was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, but later died, according to police.
Authorities are yet to investigate if the person’s death was actually caused by a dog attack – and if so, what could have led to it.

🚛 National Guard to help DC control traffic for truck convoys
The Pentagon has approved the deployment of 700 unarmed National Guard troops to the nation’s capital as the city prepares for next week’s trucker convoys planning to protest pandemic restrictions.
The troops would be used to assist with traffic control during demonstrations expected in the city. Four hundred Guard members from the District of Columbia Guard will be joined by 300 Guard members from other states.
Metro police chief Robert Contee said Friday that his department was closely monitoring the shifting information and would be devoting additional police work hours in a rolling state of heightened alert over the next few weeks. In the meantime, he asked DC residents to stay alert for unexpected traffic snarls.

Applying the administration’s carbon cost would yield estimated damages of over $1 billion annually from a federal government coal sale that would keep it mining for at least another few years.
