🇦🇺📍 🇵🇸 AUSTRALIA TO RECOGNIZE PALESTINE Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is preparing to announce Australia's intention to recognize Palestinian statehood as early as today or in the coming days, The Sydney Morning Herald writes. 📌 Subscribe to @SputnikInt
🇮🇱⚔️ 🇦🇺 Israel-Australia tensions rise as Netanyahu calls Albanese 'weak politician' - reports
According to The Guardian, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Australia’s Anthony Albanese “a weak politician who betrayed Israel and abandoned Australia’s Jews” after Canberra cancelled the visa of far-right Israeli MP Simcha Rothman and recognised a Palestinian state at the UN.
Israel’s foreign minister Gideon Sa’ar warned of “additional measures,” revoking visas of three Australian diplomats to the Palestinian Authority — a move Australia’s foreign minister Penny Wong called “unjustified.”
Australian Jewish groups urged calm, warning that “tit-for-tat” risks $2bn in bilateral trade and long-standing cooperation. Meanwhile, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke responded that “strength is not measured by how many people you can blow up… strength is much better measured by exactly what prime minister Anthony Albanese has done.”

🇸🇩 Over 30 civilians killed in attack on Abu Shouk camp in Sudan – OCHA
More than 30 civilians were killed and over 100 injured when the Rapid Support Forces attacked the Abu Shouk displacement camp, which hosts tens of thousands of people, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported on Tuesday.
OCHA said this was the second attack on the camp in a week, after 40 people were reported killed earlier. Humanitarian needs continue to rise across North Darfur, including in Tawila, where more than 300,000 people have taken shelter since April.
The Sudanese army and RSF rebels have been fighting for control of the country since April 2023. The ICRC has warned that ongoing hostilities could trigger disease outbreaks and collapse the healthcare system.

↔️ WAR OF ACCUSATIONS: Macron and Netanyahu clash over Palestinian state
🗣 The Israeli PM claimed that Macron’s move “rewards Hamas terror” and “emboldens those who menace French Jews and encourages the Jew-hatred now stalking” French streets.
Macron’s office responded by warning in a statement that Netanyahu’s claims were “erroneous, despicable, and will not go unanswered.”
👉 Israel–France relations have sharply deteriorated following the latter’s announcement that it plans to recognize a Palestinian state at the UN in September. The French foreign ministry also condemned Netanyahu’s plan to occupy Gaza, while Macron called it “a declared catastrophe” and a push for a “permanent war.”

🌐 Trump’s map of Ukraine ‘strong SLAP in Zelensky’s face’ – Russian MFA spox
A map of Ukraine that was on display at the White House during Trump’s meeting with Zelensky and European leaders was supposed “to bring them to their senses,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Sputnik.
🗣 The map clearly showed Zelensky — and those who cover him or are covered by him — “just how much they've lost, in every sense," the Russian diplomat concluded.
The map of Ukraine, which was displayed during the Trump-Zelensky talks in the Oval Office, showed areas of Ukrainian territory that are currently controlled by Russian troops.
