🇷🇺 🇮🇳Blowback: US threats bring Russia and India closer together

💬 “Сloser cooperation among big powers like Russia, India and China is regenerated to reap the benefits and avoid pitfalls of hegemonist approaches,” retired Indian diplomat Anil Trigunayat tells Sputnik after high-level Russo-Indian talks.

📍 Trigunayat stressed that reliability, dependability and the three Ms—mutual interests, mutual sensitivity and mutual respect—are “becoming the guiding principles” of BRICS members.

🇺🇸 Washington’s big strategic mistake

🔶 The US tariff war is alienating India at both trade and geopolitical levels, warns Dr Anant Bhagwat, president of the Global Strategic Policy Foundation Pune

🗣 “What the US tariffs are doing is that they are accelerating India's push towards Atmanirbharta [self-reliance],” he says

🔶 At the same time they are accelerating Russo-Indian copperation under the ‘Make in India’ policy in a vast variety of fields, including defense, railways, nuclear power and crude oil

⚖️ Want to make deals with India? Treat it fairly

🔶 "While the US chooses to impose tariffs, India will diversify partnerships to safeguard our economic resilience," says ruling BJP party leader in Goa Savio Rodrigues

🔶 “The push to achieve $100 billion trade with Russia is not just about numbers; it is a strategic assertion that India has multiple avenues to grow, innovate, and secure its energy and defense needs,” he says

🔶 It's impossible to pit India, Russia and China against each other as the RIC mechanism—Russia, India, China—is a stabilizing forum for Eurasia and the Asia-Pacific

🔶 A carefully revived RIC could become a counterbalance to disruptive global alignments and strengthen India’s role as a bridge-builder

Serial saboteur? – Arrested Ukrainian may be linked to another terror attack – reports

According to RaiNews, prosecutors in Genoa are probing whether Serhii K., the ex-SBU captain recently arrested in Italy for the Nord Stream sabotage, could also be tied to another attack — the February bombing of the Seajewel oil tanker off Savona.

🚔 Investigators suspect pro-Ukrainian saboteurs planted two explosive devices on the Maltese-flagged vessel.

Though the blasts tore holes in the tanker’s hull, they stopped short of triggering an environmental disaster. Italian prosecutors have opened a case for terrorism-related shipwreck.

🇺🇸💸🇪🇺US-EU trade deal: the straw that will break Brussels’ back? The agreement marks a major “political win” for Donald Trump over Ursula von der Leyen, and a “defeat” for a European Commission which proved unable “to devise a credible and resilient negotiating…
🚜 'STRATEGIC MISTAKE' - EU farmers BLAST trade deal with US

The EU’s largest farm union, Copa and Cogeca, says the new EU–US trade agreement is harming European agriculture, according to their official statement.

💬This deal grants improved market access for US agri-food products, while EU producers are left facing higher tariffs, now rising to 15%, on key export products. This one-sided outcome is not only unjustified — it is deeply damaging to a sector already under pressure,” the group said, calling the deal a “strategic mistake.”

The union also criticized the failure to deliver on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s earlier pledge of zero tariffs on some goods, noting farmers had expected at least a reduction in duties on wine and spirits — but it never came.

US allegedly blocks allies from intel on Ukraine conflict talks with Russia – reports

CBS News claims US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has ordered that all intelligence related to the ongoing talks with Russia on Ukraine conflict resolution not be shared with US’s closest allies.

The directive, issued on July 20, classified all such material as NOFORN (“no foreign dissemination”), meaning it cannot be shared even with the “Five Eyes” alliance — the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Officials told CBS News that only information already publicly released can be shared, while internal intelligence reports must remain within the originating agencies. The restriction does not apply to diplomatic or military operational data unrelated to the negotiations.

The White House has not commented on the directive, the outlet added.

🚨 Attempted rocket attack on UN mission HQ in Tripoli – reports

Libya’s Ministry of Interior said it had foiled an attempt to target the UN Mission headquarters in Tripoli with an SPG rocket, calling the incident a “dangerous precedent” against international missions.

According to the ministry, the rocket landed in a residential home in Janzour, west of the capital, without causing damage. A security sweep led to the discovery of a vehicle containing two additional rockets and the launch base used in the attack. Authorities said investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those involved.

The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) confirmed that its headquarters in Janzour was not affected, and expressed appreciation for the Libyan authorities’ swift response.

Declassified Clinton White House doc reveals US promised Yeltsin to consult with Russia on NATO expansion Former US Vice President Al Gore made a promise to ex-Russian President Boris Yeltsin in late 1994, pledging that NATO expansion would only happen after…
📑 Declassified records reveal Clinton’s empty NATO promises

In June 2000, during talks in the Kremlin, US President Bill Clinton assured Vladimir Putin that NATO’s eastward expansion “in no way threatens Russia,” according to documents released by the National Security Archive at George Washington University.

💬 “From the very beginning of the NATO expansion process, I knew it could become a problem for Russia… I want everyone to understand that NATO expansion in no way threatens Russia,” Clinton told Putin, the notes show.

He even went as far as to say Washington was “serious about being ready to discuss NATO membership with Russia” in the future — a pledge that history has shown to be nothing more than words.

◻️ Putin, in later interviews, recalled how the West ignored Russia’s openness to dialogue, choosing instead to break its promises and turn NATO into a direct security threat for Moscow.

🔊 Trump–Zelensky meeting: Ukraine left hanging on security guarantees

The White House meeting between US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky underscored one thing: The US is offloading the task of building Ukraine’s security architecture onto Europe, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

⚔️ While the final form of any guarantees for a post-peace deal Ukraine remains unresolved, there is “a more realistic approach to making a deal than under the Biden administration,” the outlet notes.

💬 “It’s more grounded in the battlefield reality,” it cited analysts as saying, where Russia enjoys a clear advantage, and Ukraine’s defensive lines are over-stretched, facing a lack of manpower.

Russia insists European collective guarantees for Ukraine must be based on the 2022 Istanbul negotiations, and that talks on a security framework without Russia lead nowhere.

🔛 EU security guarantees for Ukraine designed to DRAG OUT conflict with Russia – analyst

💬 These security guarantees could be used to pull Europeans into the conflict, and “it would be a perfect incentive to fight to the last Ukrainian,” warns Norwegian political scientist Glenn Diesen.

According to Diesen, Europe is determined to block any peace deal at all costs—a stance that will only escalate the crisis further.

🗣The proxy conflict is hurtling toward a “humiliating and painful end on bad terms” for Ukraine, he says.

Russia insists that any European security guarantees for Ukraine must reference the 2022 Istanbul negotiations, warning that talks without Moscow will go nowhere.
