🟠 nanocomposite materials used in automotive, construction and packaging for increased strength and thermal stability
🟠 specialized nano coatings for aerospace and defense
🟠 Iranian-made petrochemical catalysts for improved refining efficiency
🟠 nanobiosensors, wound dressings and bone graft substitutes
🟠 water filtration, desalination and purification equipment, and nano sponges for oil spill remediation
🟠 nanotech-enhanced batteries, and supercapacitors for high-power equipment
🟠 industrial and consumer-grade nanocrystalline ceramics
Iran’s technological rise has been fueled by its strong focus on STEM education, which has trained hundreds of thousands of engineers and researchers.
In 2024, the Australian Strategic Policy Institute ranked Iran in the top five in 8 of 63 critical technologies, from smart materials to air-independent propulsion tech, biofuels, antibiotics and antivirals, advanced composite materials and IT Mesh networking.
Iran’s high-tech advances are expected to increase the share of GDP generated by industry, which stands at ~20%, and includes everything from heavy machinery and vehicles to household appliances and telecomms equipment.

💬 “We must take action to improve the quality and export of these technological products,” President Pezeshkian said during a visit to a nanotech exhibition in Tehran on Tuesday.
💬 “Ministries and companies must also provide the necessary support to producers of knowledge-based products for the development of their businesses, in line with their social responsibilities,” he added, noting that Iran can “neutralize” sanctions “and even turn them into serious opportunities for enhancing regional cooperation.”
