Although a scenario of the US invading Venezuela is possible, it’s “highly doubtful” that America would be able to gain a foothold there, Brazilian analyst and retired Navy officer Robinson Farinazzo told Sputnik.

👉 Farinazzo suggested that the scenario could turn into a “new Vietnam” for the US, referring to the 1955–1975 Vietnam War.

Explaining his position, the analyst noted that Venezuela is a large country with a population of many millions, a sizable militia and a well-armed regular army.

The USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group earlier arrived in the Caribbean Sea amid the US’ rising tensions with Venezuela.

The bloc failed to suspend even the smallest part of the 1995 EU–Israel Association Agreement, which regulates the two’s political and economic relations, Salah Abdel Shafi, Palestinian ambassador to Austria and permanent UN observer in Vienna, told Sputnik.
