Zavaritsky Volcano, despite its dormant and harmless appearance, is considered an active volcano. It last erupted a little over 60 years ago.
Zavaritsky has a group of calderas, which are placed at the very peak of the volcano. There are three in total: ten, eight and three kilometers in diameter. Lake Biryuzovoye was formed in the smallest notch. Its depth reaches up to 70 meters in some places.
