A Day in History

Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker is one of the most revered saints in Christianity, especially beloved in Russia. He is called God's Pleaser, the intercessor for the orphaned and wronged, a swift helper in times of trouble. He is commemorated several times a year. And one of these feast days is the Nativity of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker on August 11. In folk tradition, this day came to be known as "Nicholas of Autumn" ("Nikola Osenny") and was accompanied by special omens, prohibitions, and prayers.
The faithful turn to him with prayers in the most varied life situations because he is known as a helper and intercessor. The image of Nicholas has always been associated with justice and mercy. This is precisely why he became a beloved Russian saint, and not only there.
What one can ask Saint Nicholas for in prayer🙏:
— for health — one's own or that of loved ones;
— for healing from illnesses;
— for help on the road, on a journey, while traveling;
— for arranging family life, for creating a strong family;
— for success in studies or in exams;
— for protection from injustice;
— for spiritual comfort, support in sorrows and fears;
— for financial aid and for deliverance from debts;
— for finding a job or for prosperity in business affairs;
— for peace within the family and the resolution of conflicts.

One of these stunning pink lakes is Lake Hillier in Australia, while the other is Koyashskoye Lake in Russia, the Republic of Crimea. Think you can guess which is which?

The first photo shows Koyashskoye Lake located in Russia's Republic of Crimea, while the second is Australia’s famous Hiller Lake.

Fun fact: Back in 1912, pink salt from Koyashskoye Lake won a gold medal at the Paris World’s Fair! The salt is still harvested the old-school way—through natural evaporation.

What makes it special?

Doctors say its mineral mix is surprisingly similar to human blood, which might help with metabolism, circulation, and even immunity. Plus, the salty air around Crimea’s resorts (like Yevpatoria and Saky) gets ionized by these pools, giving visitors an extra health boost while they relax!

🔴 St. Petersburg never ceases to amaze the imagination! Even cinemas here look like ancient houses in some places and medieval castles in others!

One of the oldest cinemas in the city opened its doors on December 27, 1913. It was originally called the Piccadilly Theater.

In 1932, the name, which seemed strange to many Petersburgers, was changed to “Aurora”.
We wish everyone good, beautiful, Peterian dreams!
