Better tldr: PIA enforces device/OS discrimination using hands of app developers. This discrimination forces a device/OS vendor to either ship GMS and sabotage user capabilities (as what you're allowed to do with AOSP must match with Google's interest) or…
That's how it needs to be phrased to lawmakers, "custom ROMs" make it sound like solely a matter of hobby among bored people

There is even more to the Google Pixel 4a's horrific battery update than we thought
The Google Pixel 4a battery update, which made many devices unusable, hides even more than we thought — and we know everything.

Don't(think of using them without looking up their business model, controversies and dark patterns) .

That means a 1/2.55" format main camera sensor. When iPhone 16e got released, I thought to myself that they had no idea what to cut from it to avoid competing with basic model and had to resort to cutting software features.
But no, the closer you look, the more hardware cuts you'll see, they really tried hard to still have a high margin on it.

And they're actually giving you more for not trading in (unless it's something fancy), you don't get these "instant savings" if you do. S10e Lite gets you 100$, iPhone X gets you 70$, "Other Android Smartphone" gets you 50$.

1. FaceTime is peer-to-peer (that's pretty cool these days, even though unsure if people are properly informed about the consequences)
2. People discover that there's an easy way to see where your device is actually connecting (no way 🤯 you shouldn't be allowed!!! /s)
3. Now we can wait for either this becoming hidden from view or Apple using it as opportunity to advertise iCloud Plus

did you know that you can IP grab someone by just FaceTime calling them (so having their phone number or iCloud email) with the built-in privacy report feature
this leaks public and private IPs, apple's "private relay" is not affected (but that's an iCloud+…

If anyone ever tells you that bootloader unlocking is made difficult due to fake stock ROMs, remind them that they literally only exist because Chinese devices can't run global on locked bootloader. Resellers would gladly preload official ROMs with zero changes if they only could. They don't want to ship devices in bootloader unlocked state and/or unable to ever update.
OEMs simply think of unauthorized sales like lawyers think of piracy. That supposedly each unit distributed not the way they want is a loss of higher margin sale in the local market.

So yeah, minijack takes space and it's an extra hole to worry about, okay, I get it.
But why exactly everyone got psyopped into TWS? Why the market lacks earbuds that would be connected to each other physically, with battery between them?
1. You wouldn't drop them into unreachable/instant death areas
2. You could pack a bigger, single battery (instead of *three*!)
3. You could add physical buttons on the "central unit"
4. The battery could be more easily replaceable
5. You can even add a tiny display that is easy to look at
Yes, you can get this today through a small wireless AMP combined with wired earbuds, but it's a separate product that could as well be integrated into wireless earbuds to benefit from economies of scale.
TWS are disposable vapes of consumer tech.
