A government‑run platform enabling banks, UPI apps, NBFCs, and fintechs to verify — in real time — with telecom operators whether a mobile number truly belongs to the person claiming it.

🎯 Purpose

- Close the KYC gap between telecom and banking.
- Prevent fraud like SIM swaps, phishing, impersonation, and mule accounts.
- Boost trust in UPI and online banking.

⚙️ How it Works

1. Bank/UPI app sends a verification request.
2. MNV checks telecom subscriber records.
3. Match → proceed; Mismatch → flag/block.
4. Response is instant, enabling fraud detection at onboarding or transaction stage.

📜 Regulatory Backing

- Supported by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs.
- To be mandated via Telecom Cybersecurity Amendment Rules, 2025.
