Agnibaan’s Updated Capabilities vs. SSLV

Agnikul’s recent website update indicates a major upgrade to Agnibaan’s performance.
According to their latest specifications:

* Payload capacity: ~500 kg to 700 km LEO in its highest-performance configuration
* This surpasses ISRO’s SSLV, which places ~500 kg into a 400–500 km orbit
* In a reusable configuration, this suggests roughly 1,000 kg to a 400 km orbit

Agnibaan’s first orbital launch is currently targeted for Q1 2026. 🚀🇮🇳

Originally, the vehicle was aimed at ~100 kg to LEO, but the upgraded specs imply a shift—likely due to the practicality limits of reusability at very small scales.

Additional notes:

* The vehicle includes a kick stage for higher-energy orbits.
* Dimensions are not listed publicly; based on available data, the vehicle is estimated to be ~17 m tall with a ~1.8 m diameter.

Sarla Aviation's ₹1,300Cr "Sky Factory" in Andhra Pradesh

Bengaluru-based Sarla Aviation has committed ₹1,300 crore to establish India's first giga-scale eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) manufacturing hub in Anantapur, AP.

Key Highlights

* Project: A 500-acre "Sky Factory" at Thimmasamduram village.

* Phasing:

* *Phase 1:* ₹330cr investment over 150 acres.
* *Phase 2:* Expansion to full 500 acres.

* Capacity: Targeted production of up to 1,000 aircraft annually.

* Facilities: Includes manufacturing (composites, powertrains, landing gear), testing infrastructure, and a dedicated 2km runway.

* Impact: Initial creation of ~180 jobs (direct/indirect) by 2027, aiming for urban air mobility operations in South India by ~2029.

Significance

Facilitated by APADCL, this project positions Andhra Pradesh as a leader in green aviation and reduces reliance on imported vertical mobility systems.
