International work opportunity
I need a design generalist who does marketing material, but is also comfortable with using figma.
Your potential tasks:
- Take over marketing related design tasks we have been doing (trade show booth, assets for mobile app, etc.)
- Prepare UI designs for motion design purposes.
- Design printable assets (trade show booth, flyers, banners, etc)
- Design advertising / socials creatives (posts for different socials)
Going to be honest, does not need to be best a class designer. But must be well experienced, extremely detail oriented, and aligned with brand.
Although we are an international company and compensation is obviously not in local currency, we do have an office here for collaboration and so, this is an in person, at the office job.
Share this to your channel / someone who you would think would be a good fit.

Some great [niche] figma plugins I use regularly
HTML.to.Design: Well this one is obviously named
Pricing: freemium with limits that reset monthly (per account 🙃)
https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1159123024924461424
Vector Maps: Download countries and regions' vector maps direct into your project
This one has really really good UX
Pricing: FREE
https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/777954172157933782
MockupMirror: mirror and sync any screen in your file to create user flows without creating extra versions of your design that you have to manually sync on every change later on. has a bit of learning curve to it but totally worth it
Pricing: FREE
https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/977817643287778988
Autoflow: automatically draw flow arrows in figma. really good detection, I use it in combination with mockupmirror.
Pricing: freemium with 50 flows (per file🙃)
https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/733902567457592893
Propstar: Generate all possible instances for your components, including every combination of variants and component properties, all in a tidy labelled table. I use my components themselves as a documentation for devs, so this one is really useful to bundle everything together.
Pricing: FREE
https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1116018586739867857
Vectorize bitmap: turn any raster (PNG/JPEG) image into a vector drawing. this one is niche but so needed when you need it. previously used to use adobe illustrator for this specific task when doing UI so it is much welcome

I am planning a completely new design for my portfolio (tem.works)with a new challenge
- I will make everything on figma sites
- I will write the code for my custom components
- I will use rive for animations (this will be hell because no native rive support on figma sites)
Currently my portfolio, made on framer, has a couple fundamental problems
* It is so outdated and a worthwhile redesign will just cost too much unjustified time and effort.
* Mobile version is honestly so lame compared to the desktop
* Does a horrible job of explaining me as a person
* No blogs and writing section
*I hate how the clunkiness of framer slows me down
* It isn't built from the ground up with cms in mind
With all that being said, I am still not sure of figma sites being a secure bet since customer adoption is looking weak and they might cut the project.

New proclamation on startups by Eth gov btw
The core motive behind is to accelerate Ethiopia’s economic growth and global competitiveness by using startups as engines of innovation, technology adoption, and industrial transformation, while removing structural barriers such as lack of finance, fragmented support systems, and regulatory uncertainty

number one most important thing included:
Official startup legal status
credibility + access to real benefits
Other stuff:
Non-dilutive government grants
build without giving up equity
Credit guarantees
access bank loans without hard collateral
Fund-of-Funds model
attracts VC, diaspora & foreign capital
Regulatory sandbox
test fintech/healthtech/energy ideas legally
One digital startup portal
less bureaucracy, more speed
Clear rules for foreign & diaspora investors
easier cross-border funding
Audits & transparency
investor trust at system level

What this means is all of these regulatory backings allow you to operate risk free without being strangled by regulation and gebiwoch, operate from non-dilutive and non-debt grants (government provides backing and guarantee to banks and financial bodies), opens way to accelerator and VC environments that run tech in major markets (example is YC)
