Level up your UI design by using shadows effectively!

Shadows are a powerful tool for product designers, whether you're working with minimalist, flat, or skeuomorphic app designs. Here are some techniques to make your shadows look realistic and improve your design

1️⃣ Shadows should mimic light from the real world. In UI design, this means elements closer to the screen (or user) have stronger, more defined shadows.

2️⃣ When you increase the blur of a shadow, lower its opacity to keep it subtle. This technique in UI design helps emulate elements that are further from the background, creating a sense of depth.
3️⃣ Adding Y-offset to your shadows in app designs simulates the element being closer to the user’s screen. This adds a 3D effect, making your UI design more engaging.
4️⃣ Make sure your shadows aren’t too harsh or dark compared to the background. This can make the design look awkward and out of place in your product design.
5️⃣ Changing shadow colors can often result in an unnatural glow effect. Stick to neutral shadow colors for a professional look in your app designs.
Don't use inner shadows as they can make your design look outdated and cluttered. Focus on outer shadows to maintain a clean, modern look in your UI design.
By using these techniques, you'll create app designs that feel more tangible and user-friendly. Shadows can make your designs "pop" by creating hierarchy and prioritizing elements and tappable areas, making your UI design not only visually appealing but also functional.

So you want to build a portfolio but haven’t been able to find work because you don’t have a portfolio?😤

Try Fakeclients.com to generate fake prompts for whatever industry you work in… it is better than that random prompt generator cause its more relatable (they look like real world projects and clients)

Ps. As long as you can do the job, nobody will question you and the legitimacy of your clients🙃

Some of you were asking where I get mockups

I don’t use a particular website
Just go to behance.com and search “free laptop sticker mockup” or anything equivalent

a bunch of mockup websites post their best stuff on behance to get exposure hence it alleviates some of the sifting and searching for you
You can go ahead and use that
