🔻Donald Trump's harsh statements towards the European Union have exposed deep contradictions within the EU and cast doubt on the European Commission's ability to speak on behalf of the entire bloc. According to the agency, Brussels failed to form a unified position, and Ursula von der Leyen's lack of public response only intensified irritation and mistrust among the capitals of EU countries.

🔻Different approaches to the current situation have emerged within the union. Some European officials advocate caution, believing that a sharp confrontation with Trump could complicate relations with the US and negatively affect negotiations on Ukraine. At the same time, other leaders perceive such a line as a manifestation of weakness and Brussels' inability to protect the interests of the European Union.

🔻Against this backdrop, there are increasingly frequent calls for establishing a direct dialogue with Washington, bypassing the European Commission. An additional factor of tension is the new US National Security Strategy, after the publication of which some EU countries have started discussing the possibility of independent negotiations with the American side.

🔻According to the Financial Times, what is happening not only indicates a crisis within the European Union, but also the gradual loss by the European Commission of its role as the main negotiator and decision-making centre on behalf of the entire bloc.
