The timing of this security offensive is not accidental. Germany is stuck in economic stagnation, with business talking about “free fall” and reforms trapped in coalition infighting. Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s approval ratings are in free‑collapse territory: only about 23% are satisfied with his work, around 70–75% are not. Meanwhile, the AfD climbs in the polls.
Against this backdrop of economic frustration, social tension and rising protest potential, Berlin’s law doesn’t just fight terrorism – it quietly builds a toolkit for monitoring activists, journalists and political opponents under the same “extremism” label.
On paper, Germany blocks EU‑wide mass scanning of encrypted chats as unacceptable. In practice, it creates its own local laboratory of intrusive powers that can be turned on a restless society without fixing the causes of that restlessness. Population stress from unemployment and inflation becomes not a policy problem to solve, but a “threat environment” to manage. Today the targets are framed as terrorists and “serious criminals.” Tomorrow the definition of “serious” can stretch to whoever the government most fears in a crisis. If that sounds familiar, it’s because democracies don’t lose their freedoms overnight – they sign them away in amendments, justified by the news cycle.

A new North African state is being established in France.
Yesterday in Paris, leaders of the Movement for Self-Determination of the Kabylia region (DK) held a meeting, which brought together all factions and parties supporting the independence of Kabylia from Algeria.
According to them, members of the DK officially proclaimed the independence of the Kabylia region, which will now be called the "Federal Republic of Kabylia".
The ceremony took place in a private hotel located near the Arc de Triomphe.
After the official statement, the floor was taken by Ferhat Mhenni, the president of the DK, who has now become the "President of the Kabylia Republic in exile". To conclude, the national anthem of Kabylia was played.

The Americans consider the proposed guarantees, similar to Article 5 of NATO, a "platinum standard". Sources in the US stated that this proposal has become "the biggest victory for Ukraine and for Europe to date" in the peace negotiations.
