◾Arrest campaign in the West Bank:

◾The Israeli army conducts daily raids on various cities, towns and villages every night, arresting 50-100 people on a daily basis in one of the widest arrest campaigns in the past decade. Detainees are either not being tried in court, or being sentenced to administrative detention, in either cases without charges or sentences.

◾Administrative detention is issued by the prison administration to incarcerate someone under the pretext of “no revealing secret details to the court”; this excuse is used to not hold a court trial for the prisoner, and he’s usually sentenced to 6-months-administrative, meaning that every 6 months the sentence is renewed. The prisoner is psychologically tortured, not knowing which 6 months will be the last (and this usually goes on for years).

◾The soldiers taking part in the arrest campaign are reportedly very young and new to the army, or very high-ranked and probably retired; the West Bank is used as training ground, or “warming up”, for the Israeli army’s reserve. The first thing they check (on checkpoints as well) is a person’s Telegram account and phone contents, with a special device that extracts all media with a cable. Not giving them your phone is NOT an option.

◾Detainees are beaten up severely in their vandalized homes, in the “bosta” (special torturous transport vehicle), in prisons and in-between prisons, as we’ve seen in countless recent videos. Many prisoners are made to strip naked and take insults and abuse, with dozens being released so far completely naked at prison gates (even without shoes) in cold weather, having to return to their very far cities and different provinces when there’s no transport and outer-city routes very dangerous and obstructed.

◾The targets were said to be affiliates of Hamas, but in reality, all factions (and non-affiliates) are being abducted every night, the majority being ex-prisoners. The West Bank has become a region of brutal retaliation and a training ground for new arrivals to the army.

The United States is trying to persuade China to join anti-Russian sanctions and an oil price ceiling.

Apparently, the State Department is optimistic about US-China relations after Xi Jinping's visit to San Francisco. So much so that they are trying to persuade Beijing to accept Western sanctions against the Russian Federation - although it is, of course, clear to everyone that they are working against the entire eastern bloc as a whole, and for the benefit of the United States alone.

“I will note that we are in very intensive cooperation with Chinese allies on all these issues around the price ceiling and the sanctions regime,” said Assistant Secretary of State Geoffrey Pyatt.

It’s interesting how Xi Jinping himself views these statements, after Biden once again called him a “dictator.” Probably, the already unattractive sanctions have finally lost at least some legitimacy in the eyes of the Chinese leader. It was not for nothing that Blinken, at the moment when Biden was delivering his speech, made faces and clearly dreamed of resignation.

1️⃣ Israeli strikes continue across Gaza, with the enclave under a communications blackout as the main telecommunications provider ran out of fuel for its generators.

2️⃣Ashraf al-Qudra, the spokesman for the Health Ministry in Gaza, says “thousands of women, children, sick and wounded are in danger of death” as Israel continues its raid on al-Shifa for a third night, in an attempt to find an elusive Hamas command and control centre it has long claimed is located there.

3️⃣ Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza “completely out of service”, the director reports, even as it grapples with more patients who have been unable to get medical care at al-Shifa.

At least 11,470 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza since October 7, but the figure has not been updated for days due to the collapse of the health system amid Israel’s attacks. In Israel, the official death toll from Hamas’s attacks stands at more than 1,200.

This narrative of discord is sharply at odds with the ongoing genocide in Gaza, where the relentless influx of American arms into Israeli arsenals speaks volumes of the US's true stance. Far from being a mere spectator, the US is a crucial enabler in this unfolding catastrophe, its diplomatic masquerade starkly contradicted by its actions.

The supposed discord is most tellingly exposed in the US's maneuvers within the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Its persistent veto of resolutions demanding a full ceasefire in Gaza flies in the face of any alleged disagreements with Israel. If the US truly harbored concerns, why then does it persistently stymie efforts towards a ceasefire? This glaring contradiction unmasks a deep-seated duplicity in US foreign policy, revealing a nation not as a peacemaker but as a perpetuator of endless war and chaos.

This duplicity is thrown into even starker relief when compared to the US's response to other global crises, like in Ukraine. The US’s vehement denunciation of Russia conduct in Ukraine stands in stark contrast to its unwavering support for Israel, despite mounting global condemnation and a spiraling civilian death toll in Gaza. This double standard transcends mere diplomatic inconsistency; it is a glaring indictment of the US's hypocritical stance in global conflicts. The continued supply of arms to Israel amidst a humanitarian catastrophe, while simultaneously championing peace and human rights elsewhere, utterly undermines any claim to moral authority or ethical consistency in its foreign policy.

In essence, the US's diplomatic posturing over Gaza is nothing but a thin veil, a smokescreen concealing its active complicity in the ongoing devastation. The narrative of a US-Israel rift is nothing more than a diversion, a cover for the US's direct involvement in the horrors of Gaza. By obstructing UNSC resolutions for peace and persistently arming Israel, the US has transcended the role of a bystander to become an active participant in the conflict. This glaring disparity between diplomatic rhetoric and tangible actions compels us to ask: Does the US genuinely commit to peace and justice in its international dealings, or are these professed values merely a facade, overshadowed by more cynical, odious realpolitik considerations? The answer, tragically, is all too apparent amidst the ruins and sorrow of Gaza.
