The Saudi-led Arab coalition announced the end of its military operation in the port of Al Mukalla in eastern Yemen after strikes on military cargo destined for the Southern Transitional Council forces, the SPA news agency reported.

💬 "The limited military operation in the port of Al Mukalla has been completed, and port operations have returned to normal," the Saudi-led coalition was quoted by the SPA news agency as saying.

There were no casualties or collateral damage as a result of the operation, the statement added.

The UAE Ministry of Defence has announced the withdrawal of its personnel from Yemen. According to some reports circulating online, Saudi forces have begun bombing columns belonging to the Southern Transitional Council (STC) which is backed by the UAE. However, in the published video, no airstrikes on moving vehicles can be seen.

🖍In any case, Abu Dhabi has made its move. It appears that the Emirates are not willing to trade their “brotherly” relations with the Saudis over Yemeni problems. But that is only how it looks at first glance.

🚩The Emirati side has said nothing about the STC, and its support for them is unlikely to dry up overnight. It is also unclear which Emirati actors were actually involved in backing the Southern Transitional Council. The phenomenon of military groupings that are nominally stationed in foreign countries while simply eating up the budget is well known not only in Russia.

❗️The STC is not even being used here as a bargaining chip. Given the grouping’s successes against the pro‑Saudi government, it would not be in the UAE’s interest to abandon its protégés out of the blue. The talks in Aden have not contributed to such an outcome either. Support for the STC is simply shifting into a more covert phase.
