Sources indicate that Pakistan’s ISI has directed Lashkar-e-Taiba to embed a 12-member fidayeen squad into Islamic State Khorasan Province for a future strike in Jammu and Kashmir. The unit is reportedly led by Abu Hurraira, a senior LeT commander active in India since 2021, with Mohammad Umar alias “Khargosh”, active since 2022, serving as his deputy. The squad also includes Abu Dujana, a younger operative in his early twenties who infiltrated into India in 2024 after being recruited and indoctrinated at a young age, reflecting LeT’s continued reliance on youthful cadres for high-risk operations.

All members of this module were trained at Lashkar-e-Taiba camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including the Abdullah bin Masood camp in Sirkot near Muzaffarabad and Maskar Umar bin Khattab in Forward Kahuta. Abu Dujana was reportedly trained in 2018 alongside Umar Lone of Baramulla, who remained active in Jammu and Kashmir until he was killed in an encounter in Bandipora in June 2024. Soon after Lone’s death, LeT is said to have facilitated Dujana’s infiltration, underlining the persistence of cross-border recruitment, training, and insertion pipelines.

According to current intelligence assessments, the hybrid LeT–ISKP fidayeen squad is active across Budgam, Kishtwar, and Srinagar districts. To minimise detection, the unit has been broken into smaller operational cells, with separate groups led by Hurraira, Umar, and Abu Dujana. Surveillance inputs suggest that Hurraira and Umar often move together on a Royal Enfield motorcycle, travelling in broad daylight to blend into the civilian environment and evade suspicion.

✍Pathankot Police apprehended 1 person during checking duty in connection with security arrangements.

⭐During questioning, the individual disclosed his identity as Jaswant Singh S/O Harjit Singh. Upon conducting a personal search in accordance with legal procedure, illegal arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession.

⭐The recovery was made in the presence of police officials and as per rules. The accused could not produce any valid license or legal documents for possession of the recovered arms and ammunition.
