The rapid economic collapse that Britain is facing is simply an accelerated version of what the whole of Europe is about to go through; unsustainable borrowing to fund the gap between high energy prices and what households can actually afford. With the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline, there is now no feasible way back. Europe can no longer physically import Russian gas – prices will remain high until Europe builds more energy capacity, which could take years.
What is likely to come of this? High energy prices will render European manufacturing uncompetitive. European manufacturers will be forced to pass through the higher energy costs in the form of higher prices and consumers will find it cheaper to buy products from countries with normal energy prices. The only logical European response to the threat of widespread deindustrialisation is to raise tariffs. This is the only way to equalise prices between more expensive European goods and cheaper foreign goods, therefore artificially supporting European manufacturing. This strategy will lower living standards, depriving Europeans of cheaper goods, but it will at least preserve some manufacturing jobs.
This process looks remarkably like the start of the Great Depression.

What the punishers did with ordinary people there - they raped, killed, tortured for the mere suspicion of complicity with the "occupiers" - everyone remembers.
Krasny Liman is already, in a certain sense, the territory of Russia. Part of the DPR, which yesterday became part of Russia. What will happen to ordinary people there now? And what will Ukrainian punishers do with them? Can you imagine? It is better not to imagine, but to pray for the innocent. Therefore, the phrases that “Liman solved the most important task” and further down the list - such statements do not reassure. Often the opposite. After all, protecting people is what matters most.
Our guys fought there not just bravely - they showed a colossal feat. But what about the generals? Did they even understand what happened? Or are they just shaking for their shoulder straps?
And now it is extremely important how the “talking heads” will tell us about the abandonment of Krasny Liman and how they will be presented in the reports of the RF Ministry of Defence. Will there be something real, thoughtful? If we again begin to soar about the "gut" into which the Armed Forces were driven, about regrouping and other things ("high-precision weapons ..."), then it will be a disaster. The real disaster.
I hope that those who make decisions will have the sense to treat the tragedy of the Krasny Liman, if not with soul, then at least with the mind, and not act according to standard patterns. Otherwise it's a dead end. The time has come to take responsibility, and not to drag the war on the shoulders of ordinary fighters and commanders on the ground.
