I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying whatever this Season brings to you and what it means for you.
I know that as we awaken, holidays / holydays take on different meaning for us and it can be hard to make that adjustment. If anyone is struggling with the concept of “Christmas” this year, or if it just feels overwhelming to you, you’re not alone and you’re welcome to reach out here.
I know that for my own part, I had to go through a grieving process of the things I once enjoyed about holidays- this one in particular- and although I’ve found a new relationship to all of it, I certainly remember being in a pit of despair over it at one point.
I don’t know what stories people have been exposed to, or what you’re working through right now. It’s different for all of us I think. But I do know that however you feel is OK, and serves a purpose.
My best advice is as it always is: Follow the Resonance.

For anyone looking to celebrate the 12 Days of Yule, they begin on December 20th with Mothers Night and carry on through to the first of the new year with Yule Night.
For me, honoring these ancient traditions rooted in the Natural Cycles of our Earth and the turning of the Wheel feel much more like Home to me than the commercializedChristmasmayhem that seems to pervade society. I’ll be sharing some things that Resonate for me this year as we go.

I was asked to give a little more detail on to how ‘shadow’ & the Underworld experience manifests in our lives. Here’s an answer:
‘Shadow’ is basically describing aspects of consciousness that, for many different reasons, we have shoved into the category of “negative”, or “bad”., or generally “not to be experienced”. This happens primarily in childhood… let’s say the child shows anger or sadness, but the parent/s cannot cope with & discourage/ punish that valid and legitimate expression of consciousness.
Children are extremely susceptible to the moods and reactions of their caregivers and will often repress these emotions, bottling them up. Imagine an adult who has no way to express anger when appropriate, or sadness when life calls for that season. What tends to happen is that the repressed emotion is projected into the “out there” so that the Self can have what needs to be felt and transmuted (alchemised, purified) reflected back to itself. So we may encounter an “angry” person, or a “sad person” that allows us an opportunity to experience that thing and then re-cognise it within ourselves.
Or, another route the unexpressed energy can take is through taking over completely that being’s consciousness. The bottled up aggression or sadness possesses an individual, for as long as necessary, before they can learn to surrender to and no longer deny their winters (depressions/ rage-fulness etc).
You can thus see how ‘Shadow’ can affect us through two ways:
1. “out there”, where we project our disowned and denied “negative” aspects of our whole onto the world and others - this also may appear in the situations we find ourselves in: losing your job; Losing a loved one; becoming injured or Ill in some way; I.e. the physical, tangible, outer experience that then causes suffering on an internal level. We are forced (I feel by Divine Design) into a Winter-like experience; one of reflection and introspection through our outer environment.
As Above, So Below, As Within, So Without
2. If there is shadow “out there”, then there too must be shadow within. We also have the inner shadow experiences: grief; anxiety; uncertainty; addiction and the feeling of being a slave to something etc. Whilst we may know that we are all indeed going through the ‘black dog’ times when we feel these things, most often the root causes of these feelings/ conditions remain hidden (in our Shadow).
Because these things are “black”/ “negative”/ “yin”/ “unconscious”/ “lunar”, they are outside the bounds of our conscious, wilful, solar control, and so we must l-earn to surrender to them when we are inevitably called to journey in the Underworld again. Because it is only through those journeys below that we manage to grow the deep roots which allow us to reach for heaven.
These are the experiences which bring us low, but out of which we change and transform and they often help us to find greater meaning. I know for sure that were it not for my travels with addiction throughout life, I would still be living the mundane/ stereotypical life of a uninitiated hobbit, completely ignorant of what lies beyond the bounds of “the village” (I.e. the known). Only through suffering (shadow) did I hear the call to look more deeply into myself and into life and into my own shadow.
So beware anyone who tells you that those Underworld journeys, or legitimate expressions of emotion/ or Life, are in any way wrong, or an indication that you’re on a “bad path”, because they may just be preventing you from finding that key to your treasure trove - the lost aspects of Self.
I hope that brings a bit more clarity to a tricky (shadowy) subject

A pure heart is not one that has never done wrong,
